people using rate your music have terrible taste. its why they use rym

>Titanic Rising
you’re right but it’s still top 3 albums released this year
>Grey Area
will be forgotten in the next half of 2019
>Igor
will be talked about in hip-hop circles until tyler releases another album
>Injury Reserve
don’t know never heard of that album
>Dedicated
the most boring and bland pop album of the second half of this decade even the most mainstream and basic pop stars targeted towards teen girls like Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Drake and Shawn Mendez will release a more interesting album
Jack Johnson
titanic rising is garbage lol
Asher Bennett
Injury Reserve is AOTYSF tho
Jace Hill
Glad to see Weyes Blood at number one where it belongs.
But why are zoomers such wiggers? Three hip hop albums in the top five is overkill.
Joseph Green
>But why are zoomers such wiggers?
he says while praising 70s radio pop for zoomers: the album.
Ian Bailey
all based except IGOR
haven't listened to Little simz
Lincoln Fisher
Little Simz is also based
Xavier Evans
Yes? So? It's done well and better than any actual 70s radio pop album.
I'm sorry you were brainwashed to take monkey noises seriously.
Noah Cruz
>Rylan debuted as 10th top single of the Year

Yep, Cringe.

My top 5 plus what i’ve Heard up there.
Titanic Rising - 5.5/10, trite stifling pop in the vein of the overrated carpenters
Grey Area - 9.5/10, emotionally resonate lyrics that can cross racial and gender lines with a delivery to spitfire them right at you. The beats are fantastic and varied with top of the line producing.
AOTYSF
Igor - 9.25/10, cathartic lyrical heartbreak and resentment of the heartbreaker accompanied by production that draws primarily from all eras of Kanye put into an r&b blender.
2nd Best so far
Fishing for Fishies - 9.1/10, fantastically danceable rock music that is put through a Todd Rundgren filter with a few drops of ELO, ZZ Top, & T. rex for good measure. All while thematically focusing on the effect we are having on our planet with waste.
3rd best album of the year so far
Ventura - 9/10, Anderson Paak followed up his classic “Malibu” with the great, if less so, “Oxnard,” but here he delivers his closest thing to a masterwork so far. The r&b takes over from the previous albums rap focus, and gains plenty of attitude for it. Silky smooth, & gorgeous.
4th best so far
Plastic Annivsrsary - 9/10, Matmos takes us on another adventure. Except this time we’re injected with synthetic drugs, and experience a comic work of soundplay. Obnoxiously entertaining but requires a certain setting to fully appreciate.
Fifth best so far
Chase Mitchell
Titanic Rising has zero success transmitting the overblown emotions through its 70's boring, predictable, unimaginative sound. Lyrics are subpar. Theme had potential, I see what the reviews are going for, but objectively it falls flat. 6/10 tops.
LMAOOO 9.1 for fishies what a clueless man
Andrew Gonzalez
t. wigger
Austin Reed
>filter it to best esoteric albums of 2019
>it's all metal
wtf
rateyourmusic.com
Jeremiah Campbell
Metal is the only interesting kind of rock music still being made
Leo Barnes
What didn’t you like about it?
I’ll grant it’s not all out of the ballpark.
This Thing, Reals not Real, Acarine, & Plastic Boogie are all top tier King Gizz. Cyboogie maybe as well, it keeps growing on me.
King Gizzard is likely my favorite band (certainly is for contemporary ones) so my opinion of them may be inflated compared to your average joe.
Even their worst, Eyes like the Sky, is still a solid 7.75/10 imo.
Cameron Powell
KG is your favorite band... Well maybe that's why you have such shit taste. Or is it the other way around?
Gavin Powell
>zoomers
they listen to soundcloud and mumble rappers not lyrical jazz rap you clearly meant millennial wiggers
Samuel Parker
I think it has more to do with RYM's metal community inflating the rating of every metal release
Logan Harris
imagine thinking everyone who dislikes weyes too much is a memerap faggot
Nathaniel Gonzalez
Glad to see that RYM still has shit taste. Pic related is clearly the AOTY
Lincoln Clark
this. I can barely stand this site anymore, you can tell many of the reviewers don't know shit about music, and yet they talk about it with so much hubris.
Caleb Barnes
Perhaps you’ve yet to come to the realization that life is subjective experience.
Perhaps you’ve not yet realized the inherent meaninglessness of the universe and instead followed your own personal meaning in the world around you because you’ve yet to mature fully and experience life outside of high school.
Or your mothers basement, which hey, I’m not gonna hate on saving money while you can.
I know figuring out what others are thinking isn’t easy but being mindful that they don’t share the same experience as you is a good place to start.
James Reed
fpbp
Xavier Carter
Good album, what's your favorite track? I liked Wax On, mainly because of the Freddie feature
Joseph Lee
This is what rating inflation looks like. If you're giving four 9+ reviews in the first half of the weakest year this decade in music, what do you do when an actually great album that you love comes out?
Adam Adams
This post is absolutely fucking pathetic and you should be ashamed of yourself. Grow up and think about what you are saying.
Wyatt Kelly
listen to more music
Camden Roberts
an album is either 0 or 1, either it speaks to you or it doesn't, stop wasting your time with ratings
when a great album you love comes out, you forget about all this rating bullshit because you're too infatuated with the music
Gavin Sullivan
And then poptimists and rap fags downrate it after one listen
Rap fags are much more guilty of overrating albums than metalfags
Eli Flores
>this person has ability to rate and review albums on RYM
Luis Moore
>you can tell many of the reviewers don't know shit about music
none of them know shit about music apart from the ones who joined before 2015
also don't listen to users under the age of 20, and south americans (because south americans are the dumbest people on earth)
Aaron Reed
Yeah but theyre deweighted so who cares.

there are probably exceptions to the rule but they're so few and far-between that they aren't really worth mentioning

Lucas Perry
>Dedicated will be outperformed by Biebs

Camden Stewart
Hot take: Carly Rae Jepsen only gets a pass on Yea Forums and RYM because she is now acceptably non-mainstream enough to like
That and I want to put my benis in her butt :D
Dominic Perry
oh god shut the fuck up i dont even care about your ratings just the way you talk
Jose Jenkins
>non-mainstream enough to like
she gets a pass because people want to fuck her
Nicholas Williams
>current year

Charles Clark
if you're under 20 and are writing reviews on rym chances are you don't know shit about music
Landon Wright
Haha you got so baited. But also, King Gizzard are awful. You should reconsider your own subjective experience, since it vastly inferior to everyone else's on this planet.
Jason Rivera
just what it is, underage anons. we were all that age and we were all dumb assholes at that age.
David Sanders
this
I wouldn't listen to 19 year old me for music recommendations
Benjamin Jenkins
not really i had good taste at that age. had listened to more music and had better taste than 99.9% of the world already at that point. if theiyre young and interested in music it probably means its been their passion their whole life. rather than boomers who got into music in college or someshit.
Asher Wood
>south americans (because south americans are the dumbest people on earth)
that's not how you spell africans
Joseph Reyes
I have over 1000 albums rated on rym and only 8 5 stars.
yall inflate rating too much. the highest rated album from me this year is solange 4 stars. the last album to get 5 star was donuts.
Nathan Davis
nah south americans are way worse, they think their passion and fiery nature means that what they're about to say isn't complete horseshit
Jace King
I honestly don't know a single african rymer (south africans don't count)
Andrew Wood
>has only 1000 ratings
>rated solange a 4
opinion well and truly discarded
John Myers
is that supposed to be impressive? i have 4500 and 3 5s... and i know im not special. youre below average

why are you glad to see it

that’s gay as fuck bro
Jeremiah Jackson
I dunno I'd say my taste is alright now
coming away from Yea Forums for a while and actually learning about music through other means than the completely distorted lens of RYM helped me find a bunch of artists that weren't shit
Christian Rivera
Gotta be Jailbreak the Tesla, although I like most of them in different ways. Also all the features slaughtered it. A very fun listen all in all
Christian Kelly
Why even have 5s if you are not gonna give them
I have 30 out of 3000
Gavin Evans
Completely based and 100% right on every point.
Luke Cook
I don't know if it says more about the state of music this first half of the year or the absolute state of the website
Nathaniel Peterson
totally ripped off this cover, but surprised this actually is good. I'm going to check it out.
Leo Walker
I know, it's bad. Hope you're not implying that makes this year a bad one for music because it's been really solid so far. The best are rarely in the top 10 on there.
Christian Davis
What are some good albums from this year then
Jacob Ortiz
Clear AOTY for me
Dylan Garcia
Depressing desu
Ryder Edwards
Just like the majority of great albums that came out last year like Dead Magic or Safe in the Hands Of Love
Levi Gomez
i do use them for the best music. i rank shit based on tiers. not that many albums are absolutely close to perfect. the vast majority are average/ ok which i give 2.5. i have a pretty perfect bell curve so clearly im using a scale that utilizes all points

90% of the time people ask this they're just eagerly waiting to call what's posted in response garbage so they can stay in the right in their mind, so I'm not going to bother. Just know it's very easy for you to go find good stuff from this year yourself.
Nathan Evans
Thanks for nothing faggot
From this year I only enjoyed new releases by Bjorn Riis, Waste of Space Orchestra, the Twilight Sad and These New Puritans
Dylan Davis
this
I feel like Three Man Weave was my favorite. It's so damn good
Michael Roberts
Disposable shit music for trannies and nothing more, please hope you don't like this shit
Benjamin Flores
I understand using IMDB or whatever to rate movies but doing it on RYM makes no sense to me.
I watch movies all the way through but if an album's first 2-3 tracks aren't to my taste at all I'm not going to keep listening through the whole thing, so if I were to use the ratings on RYM I'd only ever be giving out 2.5/3 to 5 stars for anything. Why do you guys listen through albums you're hating (not that I can see your ratings but I assume you have plenty of albums rated on the lower side)? Just curious, not being critical or anything.
lmao did you get that from my share in the sharethread? I hope you're not posting it ironically, it's a really solid fucking rock album that doesn't make any actual references furfag shit afaik (even though the person/people behind it are confirmed furries).
Connor Gonzalez
correct rankings tyler should be number 1 though
Julian Clark
holy shit this is just embarassing lol
Brandon Ortiz
fpbp
Nolan Barnes
yeah it's been pretty shit so far this year.
Josiah Richardson
>Why do you guys listen through albums you're hating
im interested to music to understand cultural movements and history and the broader scope of music not just for pleasure and entertainment. i imagine its the same for most people. i dont listen to music to like it. i listen to it to understand different form of human expression and different cultures and how it has manifested itself sonically.
Jacob Howard
There’s also a lot of trannies in the anime community that doesn’t mean that anime is gay
Anthony Reyes
when will u fags grow up and move past ratings and scores
Logan Perry
Cows on Hourglass Pond is #1
Daniel Rogers

>Why do you guys listen through albums you're hatin
the same reason you watch movies all the way through, retard
Lincoln Peterson
8 is too much. At most you should have 1 per 250.
Lincoln Sullivan
Ideally you should have 15 five star albums, regardless of how many you have rated.
Cameron Green
Had to try spotify once bc my phone sd card got borked. Top 50 lists shilled this nigga tyler so hard u could not have 10 minutes without hearing this shit for real
Nathaniel Murphy
listened to all those, all pretty shitty
i thought rym had good opinions?
Jace Gomez
Just asking a question you chucklehead take a chill pill. I guess I just see movies as a single entity and an album as a collection (meant to be listened to in full outside of radio pop stuff ofc but still) that can be more freely tossed aside between tracks than a movie I'm halfway through.
Also I think shit movies are more interesting to stick with than shit music in almost all cases. And by shit movies I mean unique creations, not obviously shitty franchises like the MCU/DCEU ones which are obviously not worth starting in the first place. Shit music usually just sounds exactly the same as tons of other shit music, with interchangeable lyrics and sounds, while bad movies can be wildly different from other bad ones more often, and at least have things to analyze -- direction/cinematography/writing/acting/setting/effects/story -- that some generic alternative/indie album doesn't (or at least for someone like me who doesn't know much about the technical side of music production and can't be observed as easily as those above things are for movies).
Jackson Russell
>No Cows on Hourglass Pond
>No Girl With Basket of Fruit
>No Kevin Abstract
Yep, I'm thinking it's cringe
Anthony Robinson
their top charts are always pretty shitty. idk what you are talking about.
theres a community of ppl actually interested in experimental, innovative, creative, intelligent music that are extremely influential and important but the top charts have always just reflected pop shit and pleb shit that normies (who have accounts but arent important within the rym community like)
Levi Peterson
arbitrary as fuck m8s
Nathan Long
I'm pretty sure esoteric just sorts by what gets hardly any ratings, and RYM metalheads submit about 400 records every fuckin day for like 4 raters. The top 2019 charts around early January was about 70 pages of black metal.
Thomas Sanders
>Titanic Rising
Solid
>Little Simz
Meh
>Tyler
Meh
>Injury Reserve
Solid debut
>Carly Rae Jepsen
Didn't listen
Yeah not that greatest start to 2019 in terms of RYM ratings. So far my favorite albums have been FOTB, Cows on Hourglass Pond and Flamagra.
Nolan Peterson
there's a couple moroccan/arab ones
Mason Scott
maybe you faggots shouldn't have 1 starred Nature Denatured and Found Again based on a single Bandcamp track sample and your dislike of avant-teens :^)
Juan Cox
For me, it's 'A Gaze Among Them' by Canadian post-metal band, Big|Brave.
Aiden King
Just woke up. Since the thread is still alive.
What can I say
I love music.
I won’t apologize for that.
If you care to peruse what I’ve heard and suggest something, I’m all for it.
Otherwise check your ego at the door.
rateyourmusic.com
I’m not deweighted
I have full weighting
Doesn’t make it not true
Just because what I’m saying is unfashionable for Yea Forums doesn’t mean it doesn’t pertain to how I feel about the music.
I made the most right before passing out so I didn’t have time to refine my brief reviews.
I’ve got a full review for the Matmos & KG&LW albums on my RYM if you care so much to shitpost about those
I know that the odds that post was b8 are pretty high so I tried to be some sardonic in my reply
Don’t take yourself too seriously
Life is made to be lived
Jordan Jenkins
based self-confident pleb
Gavin Sanders
>he actually rates music
>he doesn't just use rym for the lists and bookmark feature
Anthony Harris
Grey Area is a pretty good album but it really doesn't deserve more praise than IGOR or IJ
if Fantano gave it a 7 it wouldn't be so high up
Aaron Wilson
I like Titanic Rising but man this is the weakest year of the decade for music.
Brandon Hill
What do you think the strongest year was? I think somewhere around 2015-2017
Andrew Lewis
nah, i thought maybe rym users are influenced by fantano but then i checked billie ellish's album, maybe rym isn't a shithole after all
Jack Williams
I'd say 2012 or 2013. But that's just on a whim.
