>God Tier
The Downward Spiral
The Fragile
Still
Year Zero

>High Tier
Pretty Hate Machine
Broken
Ghosts I-IV
The Slip
The Trilogy

>Mid Tier
With Teeth
Hesitation Marks

I'd put The Trilogy and With Teeth up there too, I still think Year Zero is NIN at its most creative. It has the best concept and even melodies, it feels like the most complete album.

On some days, definitely, yeah. I just love the glitchy and paranoid sound of Year Zero

TDS will always be my fv and introduction to NIN. I was a pre teen and almost had a heart attack with the first scream.

I would put the Fragile Second and in the 3rd place Year Zero and The Trilogy.

Trent and Atticus will never stop surprising me, what a great band, always evolving and mainteining the top quality even in the so-so albums like Hesitation Marks (wich is GREAT)

Is it gay if this makes me emotional?

Not at all, it's one of his most emotional pieces, from Trent that says shit ton

And Add Violence is a continuation of it so therefore The Trilogy is also peak NIN

yes, the best kind of gay

Of course Trilogy is peak NIN, I don't see how Add Violence continues Year Zero though

uncomplete page but you get some bits :

Ghosts fucking sucks

any album with hidden bird chirps is a great album

I don't see how This Isn't The Place and The Lovers work into it, both are very personal tracks for Trent (One about Bowie's passing, other about his drug abuse)
Maybe they have double meaning, being personal to Trent while also being connected to Year Zero's story.

Yes indeed. Maybe. As Trent said, NTAE was looking inward to see what's wrong, then outward with AV, each coming to the wrong conclusions, and BW acting as a final understanding of the world and himself in relation to it, somehow.
So AV is more of a look at the state of the world, its politics (so linked to YZ), his relation with others, his dealing with grief, a link to the bleedthrough concept by interpreting past lives as if they continued and he evolved into this world instead of this one we have, not dealing head-on like he should.

It's a bit disjointed, but is linked enough that it works, imo. It pushed them into new and exciting territories, that's for sure.

daily reminder trent is a fucking idiot who named his kids after yugioh cards

When Trent stopped doing drugs his music lost all it's edge and fucking blew

t. Head like a hole faggot

Sounds like excuse that he was out of ideas after he kicked the junk. He became an irreverent shell of himself from 2000 onward.

>lost all edge
It still has edge especially The Trilogy and Year Zero

Bad Witch is his most creative and experimental album ever though.
Year Zero was an album where he explored new concepts he hands before and created an entire lore and world for an ARG which was connected to the album, faggot

>DUDE BUSH IS BAD
That aint edge, it's normy horseshit. There's not a bit of heaviness to almost all of the shit past With Teeth. It's when Trent thought he was the next New Order and not a guy who got lucky commercializing Ministry knock off songs.

Well yeah, Year Zero is so fucking great, be it the music, or even all that is around it :
An artist actually engaging this much with his audience in such ways incorporated in the music itself was way ahead of the rest. And still is.

He got out of his comfort zone and created terrible music that's not memorable.

Did you fucking hear The Trilogy?
>Bush is bad!
The album criticizes literally everyone. Tell me how NTAE or Bad Witch don't have that "edge" you're looking for
For plebs such as yourself, maybe.

And like it was said in a previous thread, it's thanks to the interdependence all the albums that makes the construction of world building like that possible and a solid basis for great music. Real work of love.

Year Zero is dogshit and the only people who like it are people who's first and last Industrial band was Nine Inch Nails.

Ain't better for NTAE than being at the forefront of cinema in the best episode of the last season of Twin Peaks. That's what edge is. The very edge.

I bet I explored far more Industrial/Industrial Rock/Industrial Metal bands than you have
Also calling NIN "industrial" is retarded

The Slip, NTAE, Bad Witch are all heavier than With Teeth, you just exposed yourself as a tourist

young Trent makes an album
>Trent is sooo edgy! Cringe CRINGE
Trent makes an album nowadays
>He's lost his edge Cringe CRINGE

Fuck off.

It's never like the OG industrial because Trent made it its own, and created a new fucking genre, that never stopped evolving in all directions all this years.
In retrospect the term industrial sometimes pulls him down, because he injects so much humanity, and dare I say so much fucking hope and himself into his music, that some people couldn't keep up with the multiple facets of the music and could only latch on one side of it.
Either you get it whole or you don't.
It can be underwhelming, but most of the time it's fucking great.

>my first industrial group

No they fucking aren't. It's shitty dusty sounding hipster rock at this point.

>it's never like the OG industrial because Trent made it its own
aka he made it pop music

I'm being baited, but I might as well post these anyways as it reminds of how great The Slip is

ITT people wasting their time trying to derail a thread by spewing old, shit, and tired criticism, but the sax is too strong for these younglings.

The Slip rehearsals are cooler tho

Burning Bright can't be heard loud enough, dang that very high pitched melody at 2/3

I might have understood these around Hesitation Marks era, at this point it's just shit posting, I was scared Trent was getting soft myself, but his latest output shut me up.
Either way, his song writing and production was always out of this world, especially on Hesitation Marks which sounds excellent

I probably prefer the studio, it has more fuzz/distortion to it.
Head Down in studio especially sounds better on studio to me.

youtube.com/watch?v=9uzYmoDRKsI

If Trent ended his career on HM that would have been a bummer, but he turned it around yeah
Gotta have something to be passionate about

Based

Yeah but Trent really gives it 110%

That I agree, his screams on there are absolute insane. His Head Down performance is super raw
Wish there was a Demon Seed rehearsal too
