I don’t get the RYM system over all. When you look up a chart for specific year or genre there are albums with a few ratings placed higher than albums with a lot of ratings. In what universe should be an album rated 3.90 by 50 people above the one rated 3.85 by 2000 people?

The number of ratings don't matter that much, you only need to have a few hundred or so, it's your ratings distribution that's the most important.

they're actually both at an 8.5/10 for me, and I have no preference. they both come across as genuinely good but overrated by tourists, and while I find a full listen of each one to be exquisite, I'm very rarely in the mood for either since there's so many better albums in each of their genres
