I don't get it, how is this supposed to be on the same level as Trout Mask Replica or Faust s/t? It's literally just some jazz-wank soft-rock. It's good but 8/10 at best.
I don't get it, how is this supposed to be on the same level as Trout Mask Replica or Faust s/t...
It's not even good soft rock neither
It's legitimately one of the most emotional and human records I can think of
either* shit
Except it isn't?
it's about as emotional as a Korn album
Lmao dope argument dude. The record is about him trying to navigate losing function of his legs and what that means for his marriage. But yeah whatever, you're probably right
i don’t get it either. the drumming is cool and i really like the singer’s voice but everything else just isn’t that interesting.
>avant-teens thinking they know what's good and what isn't
That's irrelevant to the music on the LP, which stinks
Just because that's a band you probably don't like, doesn't make it not emotional
yes we know
>this is the level of discourse on Yea Forums these days
ever thought you simply don't have the attention span for it? It used to be universally praised on this board.
Scaruffi is a commie so he rated it higher than it should be
Personally, it's not as amazingly mindblowing as Scaruffi makes it out to be imho. But if you really pay attention to layers of sound going on throughout the entire album & just how well-composed it is, it does actually sound pretty one-of-a-kind on its own desu.
While I do agree that TMR & Faust are the more superior pieces of sonic art, I think Robert Wyatt did a pretty damn good job conveying his emotions the way he did at that the time by creating an album like Rock Bottom, considering his tragic circumstances prior.
Funny thing is I probably like Soft Machine more than you
old Yea Forums has shit taste. they liked shit like the Antlers and Andrew Jackson Jihad
that album literally has nothing to do with communism compared to Wyatt's later works though
Should have been an EP. Not enough ideas to sustain a full album.
lol
music shouldn't judged by how many layers and overdubs it has
faust s/t is crap tho, this is better
Third is good, everything else is disposable. Though that doesn't prove anything because their brand of freeform prog nonsense takes a hell of a lot less attention and focus than an album with a much more minimal, personal and intensive scope. Sounds like you want flashy shit that doesn't ask much of the listener
>mockney fake jazz rambling
>sincere
o i am laffin
Fucking this
so I guess that rules out any Beethoven symphonies or Bach concertos then
your reading comprehension is pitiful, that isn't at all what they said
How is new-Yea Forums any better? I'm glad we've moved on from NMH but I'm sick to death of the tyler threads
it's a 10
I don't get how hipsters and art hoes can belove Faust s/t so much yet they absolutely hate prog.
I didn't even read your post to be fair
CLT used to champion both back when he used to post here, I guess there's no one like him to gatekeep anymore
>it's just a bunch of words
>I mean what subtext could I possibly take from this
meme
it wasn't my post unless you're not talking about this
get pleb filtered
Faust Tapes and IV are both 5 times the record s/t is, that record was literally made to be a meme and you fell for it
It's much better than TMR and that krautrock shit
TMR is dogshit
imagine being this gay
cringe
Oldfields noodling is the only highlight
low IQ
