Sorry son, but this is now a Cracker thread.

Cracker's not indie rock.
More wry rootsy-americana mainstream alt-rock of the 90s.
Nice try though.

Just posted them not to be called pretentious fart sniffer and be taken seriously, although they are still better than SDRE

Understandable. Admittedly, I'm not a big fan of neither but I would take SDRE over Mineral any day. Though I'd honestly take both over Texas is the Reason, which I've always felt eh towards.

indie and alt from 80s and 90s and 00s, how about that?

Attached: I Have GREAT TASTE.png (3848x2202, 2.1M)

and 70s!

Mineral was the first emo band I've ever listened to desu. Before that I thought of all emo to be some MCR-like bullshit, so even though with times I perhaps got to know better artists than Mineral, they still are kind of special for me, that's probably why I have a bias towards them. But yeah, I guess with different circumstances I wouldn't really like them either

I guess there's not really much point in labeling anything from 70s as alt or indie because the indie subculture hasn't been set up yet and the DIY thing was quite popular with punk which is also was quite popular, so that seems kind of achronological

Oh don't go after MCR like that. Even they hated being labeled as emo :(

RUNNING JOKE
A RUNNING JOKE
I'M RUNNING DRY

It's not like I'm some sort of their hater or LARPing genre gatekeeper, by bringing them up I just wanted to expose the pop-punk bands with drama queen attitude, which I used to think was the only kind of emo there is

Are you that one guy I used to know on Discord who had a hate boner obsession for pop punk and would constantly talk about pedophilia?

No, neither do I hate pop-punk nor do I frequently use discord

Huh. Guess that's just my paranoia. Oh well, let's talk about The Anniversary. I know pic related came out in 2000 but it was recorded in 1999, so I just want to let it slide.

What the fuck happened? They had a great debut album then turned into a generic indie rock band with their second album. I don't think many people have even heard their second album.

Better than those 120 Minutes threads where it was just the same guy over and over changing IPs and spamming nothing but Youtube links.

Many such cases, Interpol being the most obvious. I guess the main problems with the indie bands like The Anniversary is their lack of interesting things to expose with their music that is also usually goes with the absence of experimentation combined with an urge to record something, so in the end they either end up making one album for ages or selling out. And even though there are some bands who manage to preserve or even perfect their formula still fail after one or two more albums which is sad considering the fact that most of players are actually talented, although The Anniversary dropped relatively easy compared to some other bands. Still enjoy their debut very much, one of the few 2000 albums I like

I was alive during 120 Minutes era.
Whomever programmed that shit had shit taste, most of the acts were wanna be sellouts that were on major labels, but never went anywhere because they sucked.

Like these 2.

Dreadful shit.

that geggy tah song was great though
and the dude in the band is a bigtime producer now

dear lord no

Ok dude I like that Whale song but I never heard anything else from them. I remember a few friends and I looked at this website that archived a majority of 120 Minutes playlists and man we had a blast just shitting on the playlists. Like they would have some decent stuff from time to time but damn were they just laughably bad most of the time.

Nostalgia is a motherfucker.

Pavement or Built to Spill fellas?

also based and redpilled general

120 minutes was straight garbage

>Pitchfork
You guys really still care about their scores?

Are we L O A F posting?

More like
Pavement Vs Guided By Voices
(lo-fi pop/rock pastiches with cut up/word salad lyrics)

or
Built To Spill vs Archers Of Loaf
(lo-fi stoner/slacker rock with jamband elements with lyrics with understandable storylines/topics)

agree
Dave Kendall was one of the original programmers, lots of super shitty madchester stuff like EMF and jesus jones.

Look at the playlist of whats in the video link

youtube.com/watch?v=rdeszRvrPJU
PURE SHIT.

No but if it get s a zoomer into actual good music than the shit memed here everyday, thats a good thing.

stop shilling this

fuck off spic

I mean, IMO the best Pavement is Brighten the Corners, which is a bit of a hard comparison to GBV considering how produced up it is. If anything Pavement at that point started having Sparklehorse-esque qualities to them.

Also Sparklehorse is very underrated.

Sparklehorse was so good.
I teared up when he committed suicide, I didn't even do that with Elliott Smith or Bowie.

Agreed. We need more Darkgamer76s in the world.

I'd much rather have someone like darkgamer76 than gatekeeping pseuds like yourself.

Actually I was being sarcastic to the guy I replied to.

Attached: 1558070669367.jpg (225x225, 7K)

No one in this thread will defend that shit, nor Alternative Nation

Thank God

Yeah this is the thread that says 120 minutes should've only played videos like this

youtube.com/watch?v=AYf3g4i91fg

montie's back?
I prefer Pavement because of their first 2, 10/10 albums

>montie's back?
It's Summertime, of course he's back. Anyway, the first three albums are the only real viable picks for Pavement's best.

120minutes.tylerc.com/search/archers of loaf this is sad

add some ween and this is literally the best shit

>120minutes.tylerc.com/search/archers of loaf
Most of the videos were awful, ESPECIALLY the Harnessed In Slums one, so no big loss.
It is kinda shocking that they played them so few times.
The guy made the Ant-Man movies I think co-directed these and the Superchunk ones, or he had some part in their making.

youtube.com/watch?v=mvqbA263yZA

I'm more surprised that they apparently interviewed them. Tried looking to see if I could find the interview, but unsurprisingly, I could not.

>Superchunk
I admittedly need to give them more listens. I love Jon Wurster whenever he's on The Best Show with Tom Scharpling. Tried giving No Pocky for Kitty a listen, but I wasn't really feeling it compared to some of the other Superchunk songs I've heard which I thought were catchy.

the first 2 Superchunk albums are very dry and straight forward punk,
On The Mouth has the beginning of the catchy songs, like so
youtube.com/watch?v=GRQbuWxi0SI
youtube.com/watch?v=FgaZGl_G8Nw
Foolish is where they pulled back on the punk and wrote mainly "pop" songs

no Sloan? wtf

>Sloan
Ross, is that you?

daBUMP

BACK FOR THE SUMMER BAYBEE

i dont know who you are, because im semi-new (lurker, non-poster) , but by all means i will keep your indie rock threads alive if you doing pro archers, bts, gbv, brainiac, polvo, pavement stuff.
the state of current Yea Forums is shit.

>bts

fuck it's been so long I can't remember if Montie is one of the annoying tripfags or not

Well he got banned from RYM if that means anything to you.

built to spill not k-pop shit

i am so fucking glad that grimes hooked up with elon musk so that the daily grimes poster probably killed themselves thinking he could get her all along when she was dating that pre-elon freak.

who's bumping some Loaf

Attached: 10_700_700_mrg435.jpg (700x700, 117K)

I knew that would piss you off.

Attached: 1557444103614.png (302x271, 88K)

RYM should be shut down, its just a popularity contest like imdb. People give bad reviews to shit they've never heard to move their favorites higher up in the rankings.
allmusic is where its at. honest reviews and rankings by actual fans.

i had to google bts to see if i was missing something in the first place, glad ive never been in that general

But does it give you music recommendations?

>inb4 last fm

BASED ALL THE NATIONS POSTER. How's the density relistenings treating you?

youtube.com/watch?v=QWiZYuO8RK4

yes, as far as i'm aware, all of the recs you get on spotify, are the recs from allmusic.

Are you the OP of this thread? You type like someone I know. Do you listen to a lot of 80s and 90s emo too?

yes, but im not someone you know, and i dont like/dont listen to 80s and 90s emo

>and i dont like/dont listen to 80s and 90s emo
Oh, well you should

Attached: 1986.jpg (500x500, 51K)

if it aired on mtv, even once
it wasn't indie
