For those looking for something similar to Sweet Trip, it's going to be hard to satisfy. I highly recommend their other releases, You Will Never Know Why and Halica: Bliss Out v.11. Alura is also good, but is much more ambient techno. Albums that may give you a little bit of the feel I'd say could be:
Seefeel - Quique
M83 - Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts
Broadcast - Tender Buttons
The Depreciation Guild - In Her Gentle Jaws
Candy Claws - Ceres & Calypso in the Deep Time
most things by early Stereolab

Here are some 2019 releases that people have brought up in previous threads that deserve a listen
nightwalks are the best music time for me, very relaxing. I've never heard of Team Sleep, but I'll check it out for Zach, sounds cool.

hey hey. I've had real good luck in the past going to local shoegaze/dream pop shows and meeting people. They usually are pretty welcoming and laid back

team sleep seems to be forgotten 2000s-core. they got like 1,000 ratings on rym but they’re never mentioned anywhere here. I got it from a sharethread. I’m not a fan of the vocals that’s for sure

go to that chris ott thread and you’ll see all the 2003 pitchfork writers top 100 90’s albums. this is on damn near every single one. it’s not slept on, it’s just not as good as the top tiers. I remember when it was spammed every day on Yea Forums for a month straight.

oh fuck, im a bit drunk but pic related is one of my favorites shugazi from this decade. nothing groundbreaking but it has some tight melodies and overall is a pretty chill/melancholic record, perfect from a one those lazy rany days when theres not much to do but listen to music and think about that qt girl that you let escape from your life.

I see blue I see black

Just listened to this today for the first time, Your Imagination hit the mark so well.

looking for something that has a similar speed and power to Backwards by LSDATSFG, any recs?

I still have yet to listen to them. have you seen the doc on them and brian jonestown massacre? it’s a must watch if you’ve listened to anything by each band. I think it’s called dig, or maybe dug.

Yeah, "Dig!", I heard about it but haven't watched it haha. I really love both bands though, gotta do it eventually. It's funny how that one guy from BJM only plays the tambourine and he went to negotiate the deal with the record company lol (I think that's even in the doc).

yeah lol what a crazy group of fuckers. I remember my dad showed it to me before I listened to them when I was like 14 or 15. i need to rewatch it cause I don’t remember much else.

Your imagination is really good, but I would say that emergency turn off is definitely my favorite song from that album

Any more like this early release by Candy Claws? youtube.com/watch?v=6I8fWWS3Lvw

Trying to find other tracks with the same amount of energy and noise as Two Airships / Exploder Falls. Candy Claws' other stuff are similar, as well as Sweet Trip, but looking for more things to check out.

oh yeah I've seen this, nice one man, that's a helpful chart

i forgot this existed, going to listen to everything in that yellow dotted box with asobi seksu in it

How have i never heard this before, listening to it right now and it is beautiful.
Anyone got any recs similar to this album?

Attached: 1552193879882.png (354x286, 29K)

Based dad

I love shoegaze
I love dream pop
I love noise pop
Best genres

ive heared many those albums already but i feel like going though this list to be contextualize the whole genre better.

i still don't like psychocandy and i've tried many times. just sounds flat to me on every aspect. the sounds quality/mixing, the vocals, the guitars, the drums. it's also sequenced weirdly. some tracks suddenly sound so different than the track before. it's a mess to me.

shoe-gaze or shoe-gazi?

i watched her amoeba what's in my bag video today and i kinda fell in love. the way she talks is so eloquent yet really down to earth.

Got a mega for her discography?

now i'm on my second listen of victorialand by cocteau twins and this is amazing. i've only ever listend to treasurs and heaven or las vegas by them and i think i like this much more than those. this one is much more minimalistic. the eccentric vocal style always set cocteau twins apart from any other dream pop band. the sparse dreamy instrumentation with elizabeth fraser just doing her usual thing showcases all of the strengths of this band. whales tails is just perfect. i really need to listen to this again later when it's dark while laying down.

Does Alvvays belong in this thread?

yes

Is it me or is Psycholand mixed like shit

Shoot gays

whats psycholand

Fantastic. Alvvays is one of my favorite bands but I don't see them mentioned that much in here.

dey aight

Meant Psychocandy

i said that literally just a few posts before yours

Simple as

>shugazi rap
It's Not Who You Know It's Whom You Know

>noise pop
Is there a Noise Pop Essentials list or chart? Most of the stuff tagged as "Noise Pop" on Bandcamp is 95% pop and 5% noise, I've never heard anything which sounds like what I'd expect a genre called Noise Pop to sound like.

These are so good. Some of my favorites

Listening to the Blankenberge release, really liking it! That transition into the second track was comfy af, getting Pinkshinyultrablast vibes from it.

I agree with you about Psychocandy, though it has that spot due more to history and influence. Personally, Darklands is one of my favorite albums, but that's not like shoegaze at all. Much more post-punk/goth

Alvvays is definitely welcome. I thought Antisocialites was one of the better 2017 albums. Self titled is amazing though

Archie, Merry Me is a 10/10

calm down

ok im back and i listened to all the proto-shoegaze albums from the chart
>The Jesus and Mary Chain - Psychocandy - 1.5/5
What I said here >Cocteau Twins - Victorialand - 4/5
What I said here >Loop - Heaven's End - 2/5
The most generic sounding thing thing in this category to me. The first two tracks are really bland but then it kinda picks up. Especially the song "Forever" is really great. Don't like the vocals very much. Some of the guitar sounds are really nice though.
>Bailter Space - Tanker - 2.5/5
Reverse thing to Loop. The first two tracks are really great. The "W" Song is actually beautiful. Then it kinda starts boring me.
>My Bloody Valentine - Isn't Anything - 4.5/5
Ashamed to say this is the first time I've listened to this. Only ever heared Loveless by them. This is actually pretty different and really damn good. I love how diverse it is. I've been missing out...

Based thread. Are Spacemen 3 welcome?

How do I start a shoegaze band btw, seems like no one is even remotely intetested in the genre these days. And the one friend I have that's into shoegaze is antisocial as fuck and doesn't wanna play with me. FUG

just play man, start recording yourself. dont buy into the $5,000 pedal board meme. get a distortion, a reverb, a delay, and a compressor. dont meme yourself broke. then just find your sound.

good chart user, really liked the Blush Response and Cosmic Child albums

What the fuck are you talking about

Sounds nice

this desu, i can get 95% of the loveless sound with my proco rat, les paul, and a shitty modeling amp. don't fall for the posers with expensive everything, buy yourself a rat and a zoom multistomp until you get a record deal
