>I own more than one electric and one acoustic guitar Sad, I could maybe understand a second electric single pickup for metal but apart from that...
Easton Baker
What happened to these threads? They're absolutely terrible now. There is no way these things are more than just two anons posting back and forth at each other. Like two years ago this place was pretty alright. Now it seems like nothing constructive is discussed here.
People used to actually talk about things constructively and not sling shit at each other nonstop. Sometimes anons would even post riffs they recorded or their SCs. This place was decent.
That's not fair. Some people become retarded from drug overdose, blunt force trauma, stroke or oxygen deprivation. Granted, momma should have taight them to avoid high cholesterol or jumping head first into a shallow pool while shitfaced.
Yup. Lightest gauge ive used in years. Dont be sam.
Asher Perry
You gotta keep rhythm with the guitar. If you lose rhythm while strumming start over. The voice and the hands need to be independant of eachother. Eventually you'lll be able to play some lead licks while singing. Baby steps for now.
Eli Hernandez
play cascadian black metal instead, this way you can blab and grunt over your heavily distorted black metal lines
That's the DK24 Custom, right? I want the HSS in shell pink, but I'm worried the smaller body will look like a toy on me. Congrats anyway, they're amazing guitars for the money!

I don't even care that I can't cum anymore, these SSRIs have actually cured my depression. Guitar is fun again, life is good. Fuck an orgasm
I just started an Adderall prescription after living with untreated ADD for years (besides therapy). I'm one week into treatment and I've already noticed major improvements in my ability to sit down and practice and work through new improvising ideas without getting distracted, frustrated, or bored.
Henry Bennett
wow user you're a mean person and you should figure out how to be less weird and bitter
the twin and AC have more head room & some tube compression, never had a issue with combining stuff
Samuel Jones
spicy spic shitposting for ya whiteboi, btw does my tone have enough beans, should i add more chipotle on the mids?
Parker Harris
>the twin and AC have more head room than roland?

Anyone have any setup tips for the pickup heights and knob levels on an sg? The middle position sounds almost exactly like the neck no matter what I really do.
oh hell yeah, but the jc is good flat EQ'd amp voice. really good for anything. also i use my JC 120 for true stereo amplification. the secret is to plug in your stereo plug into the MAIN INs inputs for L & R speaker separation
Jaxon Jenkins
keep it simple stupid, why have more than one pickup if you will only use one anyways, i don't play jazz and i'm better a rythm than soloing, however i do use my vol and tone pots.
For pickup height put a paor of dimes on top of each other on the bass side of the bridge pickup and rise or lover until the top coin is flush with the 6th string, for the treble side use only one dime and repeat. For the neck pickup adjust until the volume is the same as the bridge, that should do it.
I want this one, but I can't justify another guitar right now.
Luis Thompson
I really like the way the solid bodies look but I'm not a fan of how the necks feel. Idk if it's because of the shape or if it's an unusually wide radius for a short scale neck. The neck on my Excel DC is more C-shaped which feels more similar to my Strat.
hello lads, last night i made a thrad asking about this book which got like 5 replies and 4 of them were insults, but one of them suggested me to ask here:
do you guys know this book? is it any good? do you know were i can download it? i haven't found a single link, but maybe you know one.
Updated recommendation on learning guitar? Link in OP is broken.
Ayden Russell
Hey I'm dumb, link was misspelled.
David Evans
Nice strat
Asher Butler
Does anyone know where I can get an amp where the numbers go up to 11?
Chase Robinson
Use actives. Most have weaker magnets.
But if you move them too close to the strings the preamp will clip and you'll get that signature compressed active pickup tone instead of the flat, even, 100% true and honest response they should be known for.
You should also run them at 18v instead of 9v to further prevent clipping.
David Rivera
It's that and people having amp settings/amps themselves that can't handle the output level without distortion. The volume knob is actually useful if you have EMGs.
Mason Martinez
which one is louder, transistor or valve?

Does anyone know where I can get an amp where the volume can be increased infinitely, when the volume knob can rotate 360+ degrees

actives don't sound compressed they're just all mids, all the time
hello fa/gg/ots, I would like to purchase a book on music theory. I'm a complete beginner in that topic, I barely know the major scale. do you have any recommendations?
Joseph Kelly
yeah, don't waste your money, use the internet
Grayson Scott
I've only come here like a dozen times in the past 2 years, but I don't think there was a downward trajectory. Reading to the bottom, I can say this has been a pretty shit one, but there have surely been worse.
My Marshall DSL40C makes a light yet noticeable humming noise when it's not on standby, even if nothing is plugged in. What do?
Luke Hill
I just finished learning Dust in the wind by Kansas. Does anyone have other fingerstyle songs to recommend that are slightly harder than that? Thanks
Xavier Thomas
You know... Strats are cool after all!
Joseph Morgan
Give it to me straight Am i a f***** for wanting an ES-335 body style guitar just for the aesthetics? I don't know if these guitars are even good. Semi-Acoustic electric guitars are a relic of the past and completely inferior to solid body so getting one is probably a waste.
Zachary Reyes
>solid is completely superior
Where do you get that shit from?
Jace Scott
Lads a friends band has asked me to help record their EP because I'm the only one who remotely knows anything about production. The problem is I've never recorded any real insturments.
How would I go about recording a guitar? They have shit amps so should I just record it direct into my laptop through my interface and play with the sound in an amp simulator?
Logan Williams
>They have shit amps so should I just record it direct into my laptop through my interface and play with the sound in an amp simulator? lmao no you don't know anything about production it seems
Zachary Morris
What are you trying to say? An okay amp sim will definitely sound better than a shit-ass real amp mic'd
Aaron Foster
Guitars have evolved over the years from acoustic guitars, then trying to wedge amplification means within an acoustic guitar by the use of pickups which took us to archtop hollow bodies with pickups in them which allowed amplification of the electric guitar but as you turned up you had to deal with a lot of feedback. From there it was discovered that if you made that center body solid you could control that feedback which then resulted in these solid body guitars of today. In other words hollow body guitars are a relic of the past and inferior.
Thomas Scott
From your logic acoustic guitars are also a relic of the past.
Blake White
They serve a different purpose and have completely different timbres. Semi-hollows are just electric guitars with more feedback and less sustain.
Hudson Howard
*plays some plastic sounding blues lick on the neck* Makes me shudder
well when it comes to technology you can't deny that a car manufactured in 2010 is more powerful than a car manufactured in the early 1900's
Adam Morales
There's nothing wrong with considering the aesthetics of a guitar when making a purchasing decision, but it sounds like you have some pretty strong opinions about everything else you don't like about this particular guitar. I have an ES-335 copy and I love how it looks AND sounds: I needed something that could cover a range of tones from rock to jazz and the 335 fit the bill perfectly for me. I've never had any feedback issues with it that I haven't had with any other guitar (technology has come a long way in reducing noise).
And as with any guitar, how much you're willing to spend will determine what you get out of it. There are plenty of 335 copies made by Ibanez, D'Angelico, and Eastman that are pretty affordable and have quality builds.
Benjamin Phillips
JCM900 is honestly pure trash. Easily the worst amp I've ever owned.
Isaac Barnes
Lol bullshit mate.
Jaxon Diaz
I got head from a methhead. Worst head i ever got
Mason Sullivan
I can only make out the Blues Driver. What are the other pedals you got there?

Ryan Gonzalez
why is it trash?
Joseph Bell
Overpriced amp that sounds like shit. Nothing more to it. I'd rather buy the JCM800 at the very least, but I'm probably never going to buy another Marshall when there are so many better, more affordable brands like Hughes & Kettner, Peavey, Bugera etc
Lincoln Morales

Enjoy your shit amp, deanboy
Jaxon Torres
What's your 335 copy?
Daniel Martin
By your logic, acoustic guitars are inherently inferior to electric guitars because the later are louder. And that way you also contradict yourself when you said that your logic doesn't apply to acoustic guitar.
I will thanks. No i bought an amp from 1992 new you fucking jackass. Why are zoomers idiots?
Kayden Campbell
A few things you need to consider: Are their amps open or closed backs? Do they have the option for audio out? Do they want to record simultaneously, or record track-by-track?
If their amps are really as shit as you say they are then it's probably not worth recording with them. What you really need is a preamp rather than an interface, the interface on its own will sound like shit, guaranteed. If you can't get your hands on one then your best bet is to rent out a rehearsal space that already has amps there and record those. If they're actually paying you they should also find room in their budget to do exactly that. As for recording guitar, you want the mic close to the outer rim of the speaker, and if its an open-backed amp you'll want to mic that too to get the fullest possible sound. If you have the facilities for it I'd also recommend sending your clean signal through a DI as well, which you can then blend in depending on the kind of sound you're looking for. Essentially the more tracking options you give yourself at the beginning, the easier it'll be to find a sound they're happy with
Brody Perry
>semi-hollows have less sustain compared to what? Solid bodies? what utter nonsense.
Ethan Sullivan
Why are you lying? You bought your Marshall used. Remember when we made fun of you because your amp is ratty as hell even though you’ve never gigged in your life? Don’t be so pathetic next time k
Holy shit youre so retarded you cant detect sarcasm. I didnt think i could make it more obvious. No shit its used i never claimed i got it new and have said its been used many times.Dont reply to me anymore retard
Jacob Hernandez
Dude youre obsessed.
Aiden Robinson
Look at him go hahahahaha
James Lee
HOL’ UP DIS NIGGA JCUM HAS NEVER PLAYED A GIG IN HIS LIFE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Also active pickups are superior to passives, 12" is the minimum fretboard radius, headstocks are outdated, not having a locking tremolo is for lazy people who don't want their instrument to be capable, and there's no reason to have fewer than 7 strings
Jayden Taylor
>mfw it's all true >mfw i play a reissue telecaster anyways
>I love slim necks, they are so fast for my soi hands with 9s
Anthony Cruz
What if you have normal hands hands and like being able to bar the lower two strings with your thumb
Carter Perry
Let me guess, you play .13's and going past the 7th fret is heretical in nature?
Grayson Powell
Pretty sure the one playing guitar is jungle asian
Jayden Gutierrez
slim necks give me wrist pain as my hands are fucked up from hard work
i can't go slimmer than schecter's sorta beefy necks and i prefer gibsons since they give my thumb something to naturally rest on
Luis Adams
>that left hand technique atrocious
Dylan Davis
You should leave those tricks to the big-hand bois, son.
John Barnes
But 99% of actives sound like cucked onions compared to the dimebucker, el diablo and the SLUG
Jacob Parker
>What you really need is a preamp rather than an interface, the interface on its own will sound like shit, guaranteed Preamps are voodoo magic of the audio engineer world, they barely affect the signal, it's totally fine going direct into your average interface
Camden Rivera
I want to play electric guitar out at my summer cottage but I also want to save on electricity. Are those portable amps any good? How is the sound? Any different from my bluetooth speaker?
Ayden Evans
Get a job.
Jeremiah Johnson
No, you see, I use solar panels and want to conserve as much as possible for other stuff
Anthony Stewart
I don't get it. Whats the big deal with the Katana? It sounds thin, harsh, brittle and buzzy: youtube.com/watch?v=6Ehfyxw_ZW4
Like seriously what are people hearing with this shitty amp?
Josiah Hernandez
I have the same problem and I'm currently looking into neck shape experiences on different forums. I've read that thicker necks usually helped hand craps massively but on the other hand it's mostly boomer forums so I don't know how reliable that is considering they probably don't play with the thumb behind the neck much. I've got no problem on thin necks with the thumb hanging over but thumb on the back for longer barring and classical pieces kills me. Seriously considering to sell my current guitar for a bigger neck.
Ryder Lee
Recording dirty signals is the dumbest shit you can do
Software can emulate everything you have and better

What do you guys think about Jonny greenwood’s guitar?
I haven't spent a lot of time with it but my trips to the store basically yielded the same result. On the other hand 9 out of 10 people demonstrating guitars on youtube can't dial in a proper EQ to save their life.

>see pic I'm thinking over stacking this with a DOD 250 Preamp and Way Huge Red Llama. Got the idea from Chicago Stompworks old 2 In 1 overdrive pedal. Although I don't know which pedal comes first in their circuit, I think it might be the 250 first.
Just wanted to run by you all to see if it won't sound like pure caca. The idea was MXR Badass Overdrive feeding the 250 and then hit it was gain of the Red Llama into my Vox AC15.

Duff mckagan bass. And also you should get a job and buy MIA
Justin Butler
I’m scared to buy MIA as my first bass even though I can afford to.
Blake Cox
Signature as in some rocker partners up with a brand and releases their own guitar, right? I'm not into buying someone else's custom guitar but I'll still have a look around
Jackson Hughes
Is buying signature the ultimate cuckoldry?
I cannot think or comprehend of anything more cucked than buying signature. Honestly, think about it rationally. You are working, raising funds and practicing an instrument for years so you can go and sound like another man.
I have all these gay pictures saved as a joke user Ahhahahahaha youre so gay let me open my penis folder and choose an image of many i have saved haha youre so gay heres a dick i saved. Haha gay guys are funny thats why i save and look at these pictures.

I've been in these threads for years now and they've always been terrible.
Hunter Myers
>"it's Sammy's fault these threads are so bad" >one of the only people who constantly records themselves and posts it here, actually plays gigs, does more than just shitpost about gear.
Have you heard his shit? His su ging is god awful and when people dont bully him and actually try to help he acts like a dick. Its been 2 years since i started coming here and he hasnt even improved. He probably sounded better 4 years ago than he does now. Its real sad to see him not get the fucking clue. Id rather never play guitar and be a us citizen than play "gigs" in my friends favela slum in front of his parents. I mean he doesnt even write his own music.
Dominic Torres
>I'm so used to holding cocks that I can't get used to a slim guitar neck that doesn't feel like grabbing dick

Bass players have sex and love life.
A lot of guitarists picked up guitar partly for social proofing for women and hope that the more they grind the cooler they will be. That’s why most bassists look fairly normal but the sample number of guitarists will look more high inhib/autism.
Joshua Long
Lmfao'ing at this cope post. Let me break it down to you how it really goes >kid buys guitar >practices for 6 months not really getting anywhere just pentatonic real slow and 4 chords. >finds friends to jam with >other guitarist has been playing for half the time and is 4 times better than you >oh hey user we need a bass player aiince chad is better at guitar why dont you play bass >o ok. >still misses the root notes half the time Thats how pathetic and dumb bass players are. Bass players are the retard optimist with stage 4 cancer.
Easton Ramirez
>Bass players have sex nope

>I wish they had a PJ that wasn't a jaguar bass. they do

I haven't had sex or been in a relationship for 4 months user.
Jayden Mitchell
True that! I got to cut through someway. I like Matt Pike's High on Fire tone and that's >hella mid range AF too. but yeah I might just do the MXR for lead.
My post was more about getting more info on the Llama and 250 if they were compatible before I spend the money on them. Even if I get clones I like to know what I'm getting beforehand. My thinking was since the Badass is also assymetrical diode clipping with two dual opamps like the 250, I figure they would cascade into each other nicely and since there is a bottom end boost from the MXR, fired it would be sweet for the 250 to feed off some that frequency. I see the 250 is popular with some bassists so it could handle low end. The 250 always sounds best with another pedal in front of it.
Like said they do have PJ basses. You can start with the Precision bass. There are some models with a bridge J pickup as do the Mustang basses.
Sebastian Long
