there were good bands and good songs, but as i see it there was a lack of originality, glam rock of the 70s was more diverse, albums started having a lot of filler songs (partly due to cd time length), some bad bands like poison had success, too many drugs involved, it stopped being about the music at some point. But yeah history has lied about glam, and replaced it with subpar bands and subpar musicians in the 90s

Oh yeah, sure, but I think there is a huge difference between what was the glam rock of the 70's which was more related to punk and power pop and other things depending on what you're talking about and the "glam metal" of the 80's being the more the stuff that took influence from all that along with the metal and hard rock stuff in a kind of concentrated "Van Halen format". But yeah sure, I do disagree about Poison though....they were the band they were meant to be I think, poppy as fuck, but they were fun and encapsulated the party vibe of the 80's
