country is the most real genre, no lie; outside of arena country, it's just a bunch of normal people having fun and expressing their emotions in simple ways 'n' shit. It's about the least pretentious genre out there.

to into the denim and beer cult, put on some denim, drink some beer and get into the music. That's about it.

If you're into folk music, try Townes Van Zandt or Steve Young. If you're into rock, try J.J. Cale or Link Wray.

If you just want straight up country, John Prine's 1971 self-titled album is a good starting point for the introspective stuff, and for the more fun side, Emmylou Harris' "Luxury Liner" is a bop.

emmylou harris is fantastic

No doubt one of the greats, and she's a real qtp2t to boot.

Start 60's and before. I've been really into Buck Owen's recently, but I'm mostly a bluegrass guy. If you want any recommendations, I'd be glad to give some.

>doesn't recommend any of this glorious "deep country" that we're apparently missing
