Why is he the worst musician in modern history
Frank Zappa
I was going to say that's not a rapper but rappers aren't musicians nor make music
You're an idiot
based
Name one good song
Yesterday once more by Carpenters is a pretty good song
Your opinion is wrong
and yous cunt is sandy
he was weird for the sake of being weird
I had to listening to his “music”for my rock history class and I was tempted to shove a screw driver through my eye. His songs are super pretentious and bad
This
His songs sound like collages
I tell you, people, I was not ready
When I fucked this Dyke by the name of Freddi
King Kong
OMG WHY THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO MEAN ZAPPA ISN'T BAD AT ALL YOU JUST DONT GET IT REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
''What's weird is that post-Mothers, the bulk of his music is neither good enough nor bad enough to warrant all this discussion. It's nerdy and self-conscious but hardly highbrow. He's a competent guitarist who typically had an atrocious sound and didn't play a single memorable lick. His band didn't make mistakes but were similarly insipid in tone and have no moments of genuine power.
It's like rock music devoid of rock, plus a few pages of music school exercises in odd-meter timekeeping. I can't understand how anybody could either like it or dislike it.
I mean, it's not as bad as the Eagles, but also not as good as the Eagles.''
Butthole Surfers were that but they were more exciting
''Frank Zappa is the most untalented musician I've ever heard... He can't play rock 'n roll because he's a loser''
Eagles are underrated
''He isn't really interested in music...he's using music for ammunition''
Based
doing meth and tremolo picking doesn't make you a good musician
Nothing wrong with that desu
>CIA industry plants shitting on based zappa
gee i wonder why
The Little House I Used To Live In
''Because Zappa composed as a playing musician, the structure of his work is weak. He couldn't plan something over longer periods as classical composers do, because he played everything directly into the synclavier. He worked in fragments and layers put over each other'' - some Dutch critic
Calm down Jerry
He seemed to put more emphasis on flawlessly executing some meta idea rather than creating music from the gut and making it sound good.
Hot Rats and Joe's Garage are fucking masterpieces.
and you're probably a child, or an autismo.
that's cool but what's your opinion
That frank zappa is bad
I agree. Zappas music to me is something you hear once and are like "oh thats cool" and dont go back to it
I’m a normal human being who doesn’t listen to “muh art” trash
Yeah because it requires getting into
fuck the eagles listen to the burrito brothers instead
literally every niche genre is like that. you've just revealed how much of a pleb you are.
If I badly played a guitar and said dumb shit for 10 minutes I’d be called autistic but Frank does it and ends up on rolling stone top 100
He’s is the musical equivalent to the Micheal bay transformers movies
>badly played a guitar
Why would a man using music for ammunition make long organized unorthodox instrumentals like Hot Rats and King Kong?
lol
I don't know. Ask John Cale or Frank Zappa.
A 10 year old with two lessons could do as well as him
He was good at what he did but yeah.. I don’t emotionally respond a lot to it
>art is bad
Based retard
Incredibly based overview. Zappa's musical ""genius"" is incredibly overrated. The 70s was chock full of incredible jazz fusion and prog rock bands who made way better sounding AND more advanced music than Zappa ever did. His "humor" is peepee doodoo poopoo tier. I guess it's a novel approach to surround yourself with exceptionally talented players like George Duke and Steve Vai and have them play the musical equivalent of peepee doodoo while you sing peepee doodoo lyrics. Most of his albums are 6 or 7 out of 10s but with enough gimmicks to obfuscate this fact.
Isn't this the same dude that trashed the entirety of shoegaze because it wasn't punk or something.
I don't know much about the genre but from what I've heard Zappa destroys most prog bands in terms of creativity. Also, does prog really get much more advanced than this: youtube.com
>to busy sucking on a ding dong
No that was the guitarist from Manic Street Preachers
>There are bands that are sarcastic and I don’t like it. I don’t like Frank Zappa for that one reason alone. A lot of times he’s making fun of this genre he’s playing — there’s no doubt that he loves it or whatever but it’s almost showoff-y. It’s not sincere enough for me.
You fell for the meme
love lou so much
I really wanted to like Zappa's music because he seemed like a cool person but at the end of the day it just required too much effort.
I like some of his stuff but he honestly seemed like a dickhead.
or because it's vain and uninteresting surface level memery for the most part
He was definitely a dick but I respect him for protesting against what the music industry is.
Zappa was cringe but redpilled so to speak.
There were hundreds of other musicians thwarting the standards of pop music while being integral members of it, Zappa was just a condescending twat
Does his face piss anyone else off
The entire album "We're Only in It for the Money"
>rock history class
AHAHAHHAHAHAHAH
Say what you will about Zappa but he was definitely unique and I can't think of anyone who had a similar vibe. Who are you thinking of? Again I couldn't actually get into his music so I'm not a fanboy but he was still an interesting personality and it's disappointing he didn't have the talent to express his ideas in a more engaging way.
Thats such a shit comparison its unbelievable
Yeah.
that sucked.
youtube.com
This one is outstanding, but I'm not a fan really of most of his stuff
"What's the Ugliest Part of Your Body" perfect imo
i'm not saying he had to be deep but the endless sex jokes didn't help in the long term
Rethink why you are here
baby snakes
jewish princess
didn't Vampire Weekend just release an entire album dedicated to his music?
>Given that Zappa was, by numerous accounts, a rigidly authoritarian control-freak and a supporter of U.S. military actions in Southeast Asia, it is perhaps not surprising that he would not feel a kinship with the youth movement that he helped nurture. And it is probably safe to say that Frank’s dad also had little regard for the youth culture of the 1960s, given that Francis Zappa was, in case you were wondering, a chemical warfare specialist assigned to – where else? – the Edgewood Arsenal. Edgewood is, of course, the longtime home of America’s chemical warfare program, as well as a facility frequently cited as being deeply enmeshed in MK-ULTRA operations. Curiously enough, Frank Zappa literally grew up at the Edgewood Arsenal, having lived the first seven years of his life in military housing on the grounds of the facility. The family later moved to Lancaster, California, near Edwards Air Force Base, where Francis Zappa continued to busy himself with doing classified work for the military/intelligence complex. His son, meanwhile, prepped himself to become an icon of the peace & love crowd. Again, nothing unusual about that, I suppose.
have fun kids
I went to this really chaotic school and they had a music history class and the teacher mostly used it to impose his taste on children. The majority of the time we were listening to Hendrix, Prince and Zappa.
Joe's Garage
Catholic Girls
Wet T-Shirt Night
Valley Girl
Shooby doo lang lang
>
Hey I'm pretty sure he only ever scrutinised the peace & love crowd and wanted people to think a little harder instead of painting their face and taking acid
Pound For A Brown and G-Spot Tornado, especially the Ensemble Modern versions.
