Emphasis on the chart. 90s college station rotation playlist level. For Britshit, 4AD label and shoegaze and noise stuff is acceptable, 90s BRITPOP is not.

Yep forgot em

>in this thread we can only talk about albums i personally selected on my own chart

cringe

Oh he likes them all right.

Attached: OTT.png (429x605, 252K)

There's an image people post here that's Ott talking about them. He also did an Archers playlist a couple months ago.

Anyone who fits within the context of those 90s indierock/college rotation artists, on the labels they were on, or within the scenes they were in, yes.
There could be 200+ bands that fit.
Make your own thread, poophead.

get a LOAF of this guy

AUDIO WHORE
SUCKIN ON SOUND

Elephant 6 bros as well.

based and slutpilled

In other words, they could be on the same bill as one another

no Heatmiser?

Matador, really all those labels. To an extent Creation in the UK.

Yes get it

based

We should talk about the Chicago / Urbana-Champaign scenes in this based LOAF thread as well. Hum and Poster Children would fit well here

these threads are always based as fuck, thanks to everyone who contributes

Thank you LOAFposters, you have brought 90's indie back to the front of this board. Based

But that's the second best Built to Spill album.

i liked bakesale more

Jesus Christ, Marie, it's Mineral

Attached: mineral.jpg (600x600, 44K)

Not to be a total gate keeper dick, but no.
Those bands are more 90s alternative radio friendly rock.
Like Sponge, Spacehog, Tripping Daisy, Veruca Salt, Verve Pipe, Presidents Of The USA, Cake, Eels, Local H, Toadies, etc. I'll make a chart of you to make up for being a dick.

who here halo-benders

In what world does Hum sound like any of those other bands
Sure
Sweep the Leg Johnny too

Finally something that isn't a fucking 120 Minutes thread. I swear those threads are the same guy posting Youtube links over and over.

He can start his threads with this chart

It's interesting the proximity of a lot of the bands here and in the other chart. Ben Daughtrey played on Squirrel Bait and The Lemonheads, Archers of Loaf toured with Weezer, The Breeders' first album had Britt Walford who played with Slint and Squirrel Bait. I think that Bachmann put it best - the issue wasn't in the musicians, the musicians in all those groups liked one another; there was a mismatch in the audiences. The people who came to see Weezer might've had some people who really fucking liked The Archers of Loaf but the rest was probably not too keen on them.

Also, where would you put Throwing Muses?

*blocks your path*
You will remember us.

Attached: Fuck(Butensky).jpg (1000x693, 348K)

>Tortoise
>Don Caballero
>Olivia Tremor Control
>Shellac
>Slint
>Sunny Day Real Estate
>Melt Banana
>My Bloody Valentine
>Bark Psychosis
>and many more
Not indie.

When did this sudden love for Archers of Loaf happen? I’m not complaining. They’re based and underrated

>tfw you realize only +/- 200 musicians are responsible for creating every genre and subgenre of music ever

90s college station playlist rotation and 90s indie rock are interchangeable

Ben Folds also played on Eric Bachmann's Barry Black side-project

Throwing Muses would still be indie

The big difference between genres is the leveling up of being signed to a major, making videos that got regularly played on MTV, and having a mainstream/hooky enough sound and/or photogenic enough for the major to sign and promote you in the first place.

youtube.com/watch?v=CGQ7rwjRveM&t=1s
Great song which was also on a split record with the band Hazel.

This band is pretty good, but not as good as Neutral Milk Hotel or Arcade Fire.

Based was just listening to them the other day.

what does Yea Forums think of Presents Author Unknown?

Attached: MI0000107166.jpg (500x493, 50K)

Who do you guys credit for creating that classic 90s indie rock sound? Camper Van Beethoven? Dinosaur Jr?

>camper van beethoven

I fucking love that album, but its not indie to me.
Neither is Jellyfish.
Thats more of failed alternative music star because of bad label promotion.
His next album veered a little too slick pop and I havent kept up with him except knowing he worked with Daniel Johnston and Stevie Moore, which keeps him on the cool side of things.

Dinosaur Jr
REM
The Smiths
Pixies
Kids tired of hairmetal from the mid-80s to early 90s and not wanting to be vapid sellouts for teenage girls.

As you can see they removed any mention of the Archers Of Loaf in the 2003 version, when they were at 32 in the 1999 version, which sealed the Archers fate to not be remembered or memed today.

these suck compared to the chart user made in the beginning of the thread

Why does nobody ever mention THE POSIES??
youtube.com/watch?v=BMhK2enxy4g
youtube.com/watch?v=VXFqDkf8vIQ

Super SAD

They got removed TWO Sunny Day Real Estate albums from the list in 2003 (half their discog), and one of them was #15 previously. That’s insane.

Lol they realized there wasn't enough hip-hop on the list and didn't wanna look racist

Archers of Loaf must have sucked Giant Cock for me to never remember them, because I love 90s Rock.

Yeah but they had to fill those slots with several mediocre top 40 hip-hop acts, so they could get more clicks and shares to prove to whomever wanted to buy up pitchfork at the time that they could cater to all tastes.

THIS

Literally one faggot with a VPN

Just terrible.

any love for the band by the name of polvo and their (2nd) best album

Attached: Exploded Drawing.png (500x500, 268K)

OH YES AND YES YES

Hawt muzik hawt dadz

this is really good

It's like Yea Forumscore but worse

I think Exploded Drawing is ok. TAL definitely blows it out of the water, love that record.

No unwound or fugazi?

polvo is based

nope. weird, hunh?

this really looks more like personal preference picks than based on whether how much influential the albums were or how innovative they were, which is completely fine but only if you have same taste as him

GO LOAF!!!

>she's an indie crawler and nothing's gonna stop her

i really like all this 90s Pavement/Loafcore but it always gives me a feeling that I missed out on something and should've gone for something bigger in life even though I haven't made big decisions yet. I wonder how awful it's gonna sound to me if I will actually miss out on something

does this count as 90's indie rock? love this album but idk how to label it, i guess punk?

Attached: 5056309.jpg (500x500, 200K)

Holy fuck, best thread on mu in a while.
where my Seam stans @

bump

He wasn't a fan of Unwound, and he thought Fugazi got into their own heads in the 90's - and 13 Songs and Repeater are from the 80's.
