So I'm someone who used to be mildly famous and after recovering from it (now that I'm very obscure) I have one question.
WHY THE FUCK DOES ANYONE want to be famous?! Being famous fucking sucks major asshole. Everybody talks about you all the time and regardless of who you are people are saying and doing awful shit to your reputation/likeness for no reason at all 24/7. Also famous people get bullied CONSTANTLY by so many people that it makes life miserable. People also harass and pester your family members. Not to mention people target you and do fucked up shit to you on purpose and find your downfall and even death hilarious. Plus is it not just super creepy having millions of people adore/hate/research you every day?

1. Few celebrities make that much money, only maybe a thousand or so big level names ever make that much money. Many celebrities do what they do out of passion and work for dirt cheap
2. You don't get that much pussy, many women will actually reject you solely because of your fame and will challenge you far harder than a normal person. Op here, and while I'll never experience that ever I'd imagine that wouldn't be as great as it seems either, with constant harassment and jealousy and hatred from other people.
It's really funny to me how some people (like yourself) think famous people are rare and would even compare them to meeting an alien. Celebrities are common dude, depending on where you are you probably walk past plenty without even knowing daily. Plus many of them do use sites like these.
Having the kind of minor fame that goes with a small base of dedicated admirers, and indifference from everyone else, can be a good thing, especially if you're good at banter. Same goes for local fame if you're a likeable guy. It cant be that bad being Brian Eno or TV meteorologist Tom Skilling, whatever one's standards of privacy happen to be. It's when anything you do has political implications, or when you're famous for being famous but otherwise have no special skill or talent, or if your work is intrinsically cancerous, that the costs outweigh the benefits.
