So I'm someone who used to be mildly famous and after recovering from it (now that I'm very obscure) I have one question.

WHY THE FUCK DOES ANYONE want to be famous?! Being famous fucking sucks major asshole. Everybody talks about you all the time and regardless of who you are people are saying and doing awful shit to your reputation/likeness for no reason at all 24/7. Also famous people get bullied CONSTANTLY by so many people that it makes life miserable. People also harass and pester your family members. Not to mention people target you and do fucked up shit to you on purpose and find your downfall and even death hilarious. Plus is it not just super creepy having millions of people adore/hate/research you every day?

Why the FUCK does anyone want this? What kind of mental illness causes it?

Money
Pussy
Preferential treatment.

You were never famous. You have schizophrenia . I know it seems real but it isn't

As social animals, non-negative attention is seen as very valuable and it is often reserved for a select few.

1. Few celebrities make that much money, only maybe a thousand or so big level names ever make that much money. Many celebrities do what they do out of passion and work for dirt cheap

2. You don't get that much pussy, many women will actually reject you solely because of your fame and will challenge you far harder than a normal person. It's actually harder to get pussy if you are famous than if you are a regular joe, unless you're a super epic rich rapper/rockstar or something. Even then most of the groupies will just talk shit about you later and say you had a tiny dick or something.

3. Most people go out of their way to hate you and make a point when you are famous. Unless you are super agreeable and family friendly with your public image.

Not only have I been somewhat famous I've known some pretty big stars before and they all say it's actually pretty awful being famous.

Agree with OP. Most famous people are definitely degenerate pieces of shit. That's one thing I would never want

what genre of famous - music? viral video?

thom yorke once said, it's nice to be known and maybe respected but not to be harassed and expected

Being in the news for the most cocks sucked in one evening isn't really famous op

I have no frame of reference so I have to take you at your word.

But I can see if you are the guitarist for Coldplay where 99 percent of the world has no idea who you are by looking at your face- but I have a hard time believing a household name/face level of famous doesn't have perks that outweigh the hassle - there would be no such thing as a" pap stroll" otherwise.

Creator of an instant animation software with text to speech that has been used by millions regularly since 2011. I'm not famous as a name (Though I was at first when this was new).

>Why the FUCK does anyone want this? What kind of mental illness causes it?
if you want a serious answer it has to do with desiring adoration from as many strangers as possible even if they only love the mask and not the "true" you. often stems from early experiences growing up. there's also the dichotomy of being able to reach more people through your work the more famous you are. it seems like a curse but it is a double edged sword because for every tomato thrown at you, depending on what you're famous for you'll get another person who will buy you a drink just because they rock with you. even if you feel lonelier knowing they don't rock with the real you, just a projection. tell your stories OP, i don't really care for fame but i want to reach the widest audience i can through art and am willing to make sacrifices because i really don't have much in my life and i feel a sense of acceptance of other's perception good and bad.

Being famous before the internet was probably pretty comfy— like everything else technology has made life worse for everyone.

Fake: user claims to have been famous
Gay: user rejects the attention of thousands of female fans

Soo.... No one outside of nerdland knows who you are?

Congrats on your achievement- but I hate you break it to you- you are not "famous".

Exactly, but from the niche fame I've garnered I can tell you that alone was fucking hell on earth. In this post I'm wondering why people who are extremely famous would want it when it's just hell and harassment constantly on a level ten thousand times as bad as what I went through.

What's it to you? Famous people are super common and use this website all the time.

this. OP is a schizo tranny faggot
ywnbaw kys

Ok serious question is this "schizo" thing a meme? I've been seeing it ALL over Discord, Twitter and Yea Forums lately where everyone is called a schizo and told to take their meds. New meme or something?

meds. now.

this whole thread is one giant cope

Just another word meant to dismiss things you don't like without actually having to engage with said thing.

Why ask the question? I make music but know it will go nowhere, if anything I wouldnt mind getting paid a few quid to just play some music. Enough to get a beer, smoke, and a burger every once in a while. I dont want fame, just to do what I would like to do which is very unlikely

As someone that's had a minor amount of notoriety. I can't help if OP is confusing fame with infamy. I'm certain there is a bit of overlap but I've only got the sharp end of the stick on that sort of issue.

im glad im not famous, i love having privacy

same goes for being wealthy. i think things seem a certain way when you're on the outside looking in, and few people know what its like without having to live it first hand. maybe it's my cope but i'm content with not being rich or famous because i know it paints a target on you. suddenly everyone notices you. its like people only show you their true self when they think you are nobody and have nothing. they'll be either cruel or kind to you.. but be ultra wealthy or famous and suddenly everyone's fake and you got a target painted on you. people will. try and get a piece of what you have, or to be part of your network purely for their own gain.

i hate people. id never want to be worshiped by them. i dont even like having to interact with them as a poor nobody. but again, thats 'worth' it.. i hate liars and fakes so at last i have a better chance at seeing who they truly are. i still have plans to make money or put things out into the world that could make me famous, but im going to do it anonymously or under fake names. not doing interviews etc.

Ya, me too

It's trailer park famous and maybe that's all that guy has left in his sad pathetic existence

Privacy is priceless. Especially in this day and age.

i mean look at Emma Watson for example. i think all that fame and attention ruined her and any chance at having a normal or real life. especially because she was so young when it happened. imagine having thousands of stalkers.. it probably made it impossible for her to just meet someone casually and have a chance at a real relationship without her being a famous wizard being at the forefront of everything. what are the chances she would ever find a down to earth person who loves her for who she is sees past or is uneffected by her status? she supposed to date or marry some other actor? that sounds even worse. so she came out and saids shes just in a relationship with herself.. how sad is that? like despite all that fame and all those people admiring.. feeling that alone.

i hate celebrity gossip and goons like Ben Shapiro who talk about them. i don't care what Elon Musk thinks or what he did today, or how big his shit was this morning and so on. and likewise i dont want people obsessing over me, what i think and do. id rather be a ghost floating through this world unnoticed.

With all of the crazy ai shit being developed in china I wonder how bad it’s going to be in the future for all of us.

Can you imagine what a bummer it'd be to date her? You'd try to be funny and charming, then when you finally get alone and whip your your dick and tell her to suck it she thinks you're just like everyone else and breaks up with you. So she freezes all her eggs and waits for an nazi esque ubermensche to jizz in a cup and have some nerd squiting anti-freeze in it and checking the temperature on the fridge day after day till she's like 40 or 50 then a doctor that just got done shooting people up with covid jabs and testing them for heart conditions a year later comes along and shoves a turkey baster up her cunt and squirts it in after they re-implant the eggs they took out.

It really is a scary Black Mirror style future looming.

Jesus fucking christ

Yeah, fame sucks.
You can't go out in public without being mobbed by your "Fans". there's always somebody with a camera around the corner waiting to take an embarrassing picture of you, you are the constant victim of trolls and stalkers, and many famous people end up killing themselves.

Who the fuck needs the hassle?

Boomers say stuff like there are good and bad times and things will get better but I don’t see us ever moving back to a relaxed society with all of these technological “advancements” coming out. it’s just going to get worse.

You were never famous. You aren't a wizard or a time traveller and you've never met an alien. you are just another basement dwelling incel loser.

People are insane, if you are famous you are inviting more insanity into your life.

No wonder so many rich and famous are shut ins.

Still though, it'd be nice to have the red carpet laid out wherever you go and money to flaunt. Ah well.

"Still though, it'd be nice to have the red carpet laid out wherever you go and money to flaunt. Ah well."

Op here, and while I'll never experience that ever I'd imagine that wouldn't be as great as it seems either, with constant harassment and jealousy and hatred from other people.

It's really funny to me how some people (like yourself) think famous people are rare and would even compare them to meeting an alien. Celebrities are common dude, depending on where you are you probably walk past plenty without even knowing daily. Plus many of them do use sites like these.

shut up nigger

Having the kind of minor fame that goes with a small base of dedicated admirers, and indifference from everyone else, can be a good thing, especially if you're good at banter. Same goes for local fame if you're a likeable guy. It cant be that bad being Brian Eno or TV meteorologist Tom Skilling, whatever one's standards of privacy happen to be. It's when anything you do has political implications, or when you're famous for being famous but otherwise have no special skill or talent, or if your work is intrinsically cancerous, that the costs outweigh the benefits.

the shiny magic box told them fame was good. they didn't think it another step further.

lol so you're famous among autistic nerds. that's like being a tard wrangler except you have to deal with the behavior of tens of thousands of autists.

Didn’t fame got you any pussy? Literally the only reason I would like to become famous is pussy, if you don’t get to fuck more chicks fame sounds like a curse

He’s homosexual, likes it in his hole

I had a 15 minutes of fame viral video moment and it sucked. You'd be shocked how many people instantly expect you to have money you don't have, and how many people come out of the woodwork to shit on you from jealousy, try and drag you down or into their schemes, put you on t-shirts, or get you on the morning zoo/morning talk show shit. People just see you as an opportunity and less as a person and it's soul crushing.

That’s because humans at their base level are shitty. we are not evolved enough to have the technology we possess. emotionally we aren’t mature enough as a species, and the average person isn’t intelligent enough. I feel like if humans weren’t smart enough to create so much stuff we would have been better off, because we aren’t intelligent enough to not constantly fuck everything up that we do. Basically humans are intelligent enough to cause trouble but not smart enough as a species to avoid disaster. Sorry to ramble but the internet is but one example.

Eh it's good enough fame for me. Rockstar/rapper/movie star fame really seems to blow ass from everything I've seen in my life, the only benefit is the ego that you can take away from your accomplishments, but NOBODY cares irl about them.

A great example of this that stuck in my head, I went to Marilyn Manson's house listening party back when he was releasing the Pale Emperor (A fairly open event to anyone even remotely involved with his circle) and when we were in his abode he was bragging/humblebragging every 4 minutes to nearly everyone he could about his legacy and success as an artist and how important this new album was going to be to action films in this decade, and not ONE person gave a single fuck. Nobody cared at all, and in fact most people were talking shit about him and making fun of him the entire time behind his back.

That's how it goes, nobody cares about your accomplishments except for superfans or autistic people online.

No being famous does not equal more pussy, in fact if you have a bad boy/sexy image 90% of women will fucking avoid you like the plague because women generally hate players and people who think they are one. John Mayer is an example of somebody who has struggled to get laid because of this, MF is still single and not getting any pussy to this day. I don't know him personally or anything but I've met him and heard a lot of hilarious stories.

Some comedians are like that. Dane Cook was for a while when he first got big but he's super chill now and also not famous. Carlos Mencia was too

Oh but there are exceptions obviously, rare superhuman types who have such amazing branding behind them they are absolutely treated like gods in real life. Eminem for example is one of those people, I have a friend who did catering for a music video of Eminem's and he said that when Eminem entered the room everybody cleared the room and stood back in awe and shock and didn't move a muscle until he did. When he'd do something in public at ALL he'd get hundreds of fans swarming him within 2 minutes. It's actual insanity.

I'd say this only counts for literally like 100 celebrities total in the entire country though, very few can pull this kind of fame off to where people actually genuinely care irl.

Bruh Dane Cook is absolutely still famous and instantly recognizable I disagree with you there. As for Carlos Mencia, that guy may have a worse career than Amy Schumer.

Carlos Mencia has only 40 thousand twitter followers and gets less than 20 likes per tweet LMAO

>instantly recognizable

Everything gets better when you turn off the Electric Jew. (TV for you stupid cunts) how many Amish died of Covid?

I had a YouTube channel circa 2013-2017 that eventually exploded with 300k followers. I quit when I was literally stalked by a guy who quite frankly made me afraid to even leave my house. He found out my phone number, where I worked, contacted family members, etc. I had to get the police involved. I ended up quitting YouTube after that, deleted my entire channel.

To this day you still find my old content but it's reuploaded by others. Being ambiguous on purpose, all I can say is the channel was in regards to easy-to-follow DIY projects

Look at how tech is changing peoples lives and effecting china. You shouldn’t need to live like a crazy person or an Amish guy to avoid that.

What did you do to attract weird attention like that? I wonder how life is for streamers. internet was a mistake.

I played a pro sport in a major market. It isn't bad

Its called "Tall Poppy Syndrome" I think mate.

YUUUP this is extremely common actually. (I'm op) before I started my current business I ran a commentary channel that discussed trends and I only had about 35 thousand subscribers. I was stalked and harassed by absolute creeps until I had to leave the platform.

Let me guess he sent you really creepy long detailed messages every day or two about how much you suck and how you're nothing. I bet he also threatened you vaguely in a way that'd make you shit your pants in fear and be scared of him?

look at this real life zoolander. don't you want to be just like him? some warped, drug fueled weirdo drunk on attention? maybe Ezra and Jared Leto can both be your friends and you can go to events together and dress to match. or maybe, see who can out dress who.
