Evening, Hijiri. I am thinking about cookies tonight, but probably tomorrow.

Do you ever wonder if you'll have waited long enough?

I was going to wait for both sticks of butter to thaw, but I'm starting to seriously hanker for some chocolate chip cookies. Would you like some, too? I can make half a batch which is enough for you to get I'd say about half a cookie at least.

This thread needs to be bumped again, I suppose.

eternal bleh~ing

hello

Hey Possum, how's it going?

Hey Holo, how have you been?

Attached: CTM.png (500x600, 206K)

Pretty good.

Attached: 0772d4f6a675d9ac6bb198bb3f4c5652.jpg (2400x1545, 1.25M)

Hey everyone! How y'all doin?
Sorry I'm late, I was busy kicking some ass in Gmod and I forgot the thread for a moment.

Attached: I'M HERE BITCHES.gif (498x362, 556K)

That's good. Been up to much lately?

It's been an alright day, went out for a bit with family in which I got a new book, and watched some anime.

How about you? In what Gmod gametype were you trouncing others in?

Attached: Tucker and Junior.png (435x680, 243.67K)

Sand box and a bit of prop hunt.
I'm doing meh. I mean, I walked the dogs, sure, but I went through a breakdown because of the monsters I'm creating for the narrative. It's a pain in the ass for sure. I managed to calm down through... some questionable methods and went on to read Neuromancer and Odyssey before playing the game.

Attached: OUCH.jpg (442x422, 18.03K)

Pretty good.

Not really, no. Just the same old stuff.

Attached: f7a6fa3ae6646d5e1d606872c1ab73a6.png (1100x1012, 1.81M)

Keep it up (maintain).

Not bleh~ing?

I am going to buy a single book I think right now. And then think further about baking cookies but probably still somehow put it off for a few more hours. What's up on your end, aside from anime?

Oh, what book?

Hey, Skullz.

I like epic poetry a lot. Can't go wrong there.

>Opossum

What kind of stuff did you do in sandbox?

Hmm, hopefully your next brainstorming/writing session isn't as stressful. What kinds of monsters are you thinking?

What have you been watching/playing recently?

Which single book? The Diamond Eye, a recently released historical fiction book from Kate Quinn. Not feeling this one as much, but there's still plenty of pages to turn my opinion around.

Attached: rvb_wash_doc_by_ajremix_d4xl53d-fullview.jpg (600x327, 23.01K)

24/7 bleh.

Just got back into playing The Run, that's about it, and some don't starve.

Yeah. That one came to my mind when I was browsing it Yea Forums. One user said that Ulysses was hard to understand, and The Odyssey came to my mind, out of nowhere!

Stuff that normally could be seen in Australia and make them more fucked up looking. Giving them names is another problem too.

Attached: INKA PINK.gif (174x176, 20.17K)

Robert Alter's translation of the Hebrew Bible. Technically, it's three books in a slipcase. Mostly for my mom, a little for me. I think a Jewish instead of Christian perspective will be an interesting change and I've especially heard good things about this translation from a book of Biblical studies that I read earlier this year.

So how many Quinns have you read once you finish this one? Of course I recognize her name from before.

I hope you get weekends off.

Simple chocolate chip and pecans, maybe walnuts. If I had macadamias, they wouldn't survive to the point of cookies. Hope you're getting some snacks in you as well.

I'm a big Homer fan. The Odyssey, despite following the aftermath of the Trojan War which is quite complicated and assuming you know about it in great detail, is pretty easy to dive into. It wears its universality on its sleeve. I think the Iliad is probably the better story because it's much tighter and more refined, but you really have to know a lot of backstory for any of it to make sense, which makes it hard to recommend to casual readers. And the catalogue of ships in Book II is literally the greatest pleb filter in the history of literature.

What translation are you reading?

>Opossum

The Robert Fagles translation.
You got a translation to recommend?

Attached: ANGEL OF DEATH.jpg (640x456, 53.31K)

How's Don't Starve been going?

Ah, interesting. Any particular influences you're drawing on for names?

Alice Network, The Huntress, and The Rose Code are the other 3 Quinns I've read. The lack of multiple protagonists as well as distinctly different time periods are definitely big detractors from this latest work, to be sure.

Attached: 1558776241696.png (512x612, 18.86K)

I've done a little bit of comparisons and research and the Lattimore generally seems the best and "truest" to the poetics of the Greek. But for us lay people, I'm sure Fagles is quite fine. Sometime I want to read Chapman's very loose translation that is more Chapman than Homer. That seems like an interesting comparison and kind of like a re-make of the poem even as he goes line by line with it in hand. Someday.....

And when is this one set?

>Opossum

There are not brakes on the bleh~ train.

Not so much fun, I'm started building a city, and that's about it, left it there.

Okay that one was pretty good.

Thank you. Took me 52 minutes to come up with that one.

Take solace in your repeating double-digits.

Nice, you've been kicking ass lately?

Mostly Japanese.

Sounds good to me. You got a PDF link where I can download the myth of Hades and Persephone? I remember hearing that it was in a hymn for Demeter.

Attached: BLACK.jpg (300x300, 21.11K)

Also a WW2 one, but this time it's with more traditional Russian infantry, specifically snipers and more particular units, rather than pilots like Huntress had. Hmm, thinking about it know, Quinn should explore WW1 more, she only really did so in Alice Network, and otherwise it's been WW2 stuff. Only one was particularly Nazi-focused, but still.

That's a shame. Is The Run going better at least?

Mmkay. By the way, how long have you been playing Gmod?

Attached: d4213n1-990b76cd-4636-4581-a13b-c6165aa3bb42.jpg (700x700, 185.01K)

Just you wait until I get all those 7s.

Not really, no.

I'm almost about to finish it, then probably start to get those achievements. Most likely going to go back to Bioshock 2 after.

I'll drink whiskey while I wait!
Let's be frens!

It was worth the wait then.

Nice, nice. How many times have you played Bioshock 2/the series in general, or is this your first replay?

Hey Reki, how's it going?

Godspeed, m8. Got some good stuff there?

Attached: D9g9jU3WkAMVQJa.jpg (900x1200, 80.39K)

Fireball and apple cider. Very good!

Attached: 1586178480182.jpg (400x248, 50.79K)

Please excuse me. I must finally make cookies. I will be back in an interval.

Maybe. I pretty much only read physical nowadays and a lot of the digital stuff you can get is public domain. Let me check later. But do remember that nobody nowadays accepts the "Homeric" hymns as by Homer. They were even dodgy thousands of years ago. Not that that detracts from their authority per se, since it's a kunstreligion of various communities and beliefs jammed together, but something to keep in mind.

WWII always sells better than WWI. It's simpler and more clear-cut for people to understand.

Checking in advance!

Oh, I thought this was Beni at first! Hey, Lainki!

Out with the lads tonight, Lillie from the Pokemon franchise?

Sorry, not now. But maybe someone else will.

:)

But think of the disgusting hospital vending machine snacks. You'll be so thirsty and upset with yourself afterwards!

Last time I drank an unknown quantity of homebrewed cider, I ended up vomiting for hours in the kitchen and front porch. Haven't drank since. The fireball will keep you straight.

>Opossum

This should be the 2nd replay. Finished it once on an older computer that could barely run it iirc.

I have the "stuck on one floor and not allowed to leave" assignment. and the vending machine is not on this floor. please enjoy your cookies for me.

Since 2014. Most of the time for amusement and shenanigans.

Oh. What I meant is that: How was your Saturday?

Hey Reki! You doing good today?

WOO!!! Nice!

Duly noted.
>But do remember that nobody nowadays accepts the "Homeric" hymns as by Homer.
Huh? How come?

Attached: YO WASSUP.png (300x300, 14.51K)

Did you mix the cider with whiskey? I've gotten so sick I can't stand the taste of stuff, too. Shit sucks :/

Attached: 1585012018696.png (2232x2232, 1.59M)

Oh that does sound good. Not sure if I'd like the spiciness, but I do want to have apple cider sometime.

Well, you're not wrong. Still odd to have another book focusing on Russian military stuff, even if it was only one plotline out of 3 in Huntress, hopefully there's a Quinn book focused around France or Japan in the future, or something.

And your current one runs it a lot better?

Sounds like a good run.

Attached: ek0dhxpq9aq31.png (748x768, 500.59K)

The cider makes it go down very smooth!

God bless...

Didn't start it yet, just installed it on this machine and that's about it for now.

Just doing some clean-up in the picture folders.

First batch in the oven.

I have already at this stage enjoyed the batter too much for even two people, so I'll have to cut someone else in or die.

Well, even the question of a hypothetical "Homer" is hotly-debated nowadays. But in brief, the collection of hymns we call Homeric are just too different in form, function, style, and diction from the Iliad and the Odyssey to be reasonably considered to be by the same author. Even Plato back in the day was talking about all the spurious works attributed to Homer. He, and to a lesser extent Hesiod, were kind of the generic catch-all category for great ancient works of unknown origin even back in antiquity.

It's murky.

No, but I had also had shrooms that evening, several hours before, and I bet that's what nearly killed me. Any special occasion for the drinks or is the weekend enough?

Ah, glorious Nippon.

Well, I like the rabbit.

Don't be so tsundere, user-kun.
