Some good songs (their hits), mostly edgy dissonant shit

Otherway: Edgy hits for people who think the band is a tshirt brand, incredible b-sides and deep cuts

yeah, their b-sides are better than most of their hits. it really fucking sucks how they're basically a t-shirt brand nowadays.

the pantera of rock

The best thing to come from Nirvana was Foo Fighters.

Also, Kurt was a fucking faggot.

Attached: lol.png (922x1256, 1.7M)

if you honestly think foo fighters are superior to nirvana you're either mentally challenged or 15. or both

fake

Extremely influential band. Music as also stood the test of time.

Great band but their fanbase are full of edgy losers who project as Kurt Cobain.

agree

Hated them in high school, later on as an adult felt they were amazing. Smells Like Teen Spirit is their worst song.

Their BTFOing of hair metal allowed a generation of both interesting and insanely hacky musicians to rise to prominence but was mostly a good thing overall.

definitely wouldn't say Teen Spirit is their worst song, it just got overplayed to shit. not their best though, either. i honestly don't think they truly have a bad song. basically everything they made was fantastic.

Wish they made another album after In Utero that had a medley like Abbey Road did then they disbanded

Kurt’s solo shit would’ve been Jesus level

moist vagina
sappy
i hate myself
:)

>basically everything they made was fantastic.

The only band with no bad songs

See: Neutral Milk Hotel

The melodies in in utero are the best thing to come out of the 90s, yes I love Ok Computer but let's be honest with ourselves

Fuck off.
Why does there need to be 5 daily threads about Nirvana?
Haven't they been discussed enough?
It's been 30 fucking years let it go.
Go to RSM if you want to read the same Nirvana bs and cobain dick sucking recycled over and over again.
I swear Nirvana posters are all 13 year olds that just started listening to them and think they're the greatest thing ever.
Pic related, the average Nirvana fan

Attached: 675756.jpg (443x598, 31K)

I feel the same. To me they are a flawless band.

In Utero is a 10/10 fucking masterpiece. The other two are pretty good, but flawed 8.5/10. Very good songwriter and singer + I personally like his guitar tone and the fact he doesn't try to do too much with his solos. Used to hate him because of all the mythologizing about him but came around over time.

Smiths

>people try to be Le so contrarian and mention tracks like I hate myself and want to die and sappy because they think.they're unknown
>it's never actually their underrated songs like help me I'm hungry, dont want it all or another improv'

So tired of this.

i actually agree with this. there's so much unknown stuff that nirvana made that i wish the masses would actually listen to. they made a lot of really cool unique stuff because in their new wave days. aero zepplin, annorexorcist, help me im hungry (which you mentioned), everything off fecal matter, the original home demo version of sappy off the same tape as don't want it all, come on death and opinion (although the last two came later). like people just start searching find stuff like i hate myself and sappy and think they've found everything. honestly, kurt was something else. he had so much wasted potential/ideas for cool experimental shit and i think he could have gone as far as making beatles-level shit.

someone's in a bad mood today, huh? didn't get your cummies from daddy?

Yeah, Kurt also did a lot of great stuff with other Artists. Divine & Bright with Earth for instance. Do Re Mi and Talk To Me kinda showed what direction he wanted to go for, but also what an incredible artistic variety he has to offer. Kurt is unironically underrated if you dig up his solo stuff.

Is this your first week on Yea Forums?

>Do Re Mi and Talk To Me kinda showed what direction he wanted to go for
But Talk To Me was an old song

You just got to swallow that cobain cum 5 times a day?

I'm talking about the acoustic version. For whatever reason Kurt took some songs he wrote back then, changed a bit of the lyrics and made them sound a bit softer in terms of vocals which honestly suited him during the end 1993-March 1994. He did the same with you know you're right and sliver too. I'm on mobile so it's a hassle to link it right now but just type Cobain 1994 acoustic you should find a playlist if not type sliver acoustic and go from there. Should be on vimeo too in case the YouTube Videos got a copyright strike or whatever.

>I'm talking about the acoustic version
There is no 1994 acoustic Talk To Me.

>(...) and insanely hacky musicians to rise to prominence but was mostly a good thing overall.

I think most genres of music deal with this in some way or another. Grunge was sort of spectacular in that aspect though.

So much this. Fuck people who think they are cool for liking the lesser known tracks. Those people are not at all like me, because I like the EVEN LESSER known than the lesser known tracks.

Talk to me is their best song and the fact that there's only one recording available pisses me off so much

we all just admit Nirvana was the band who killed rock? Sure they played a form of "rock" but they utterly cut it's balls off and murdered the spirit of it, so much that to this day there has not been one major band who hasn't followed the whiney "dear diary today I wept about Africa and the gay struggle a mosquito a libido" shit Cobain made popular

Attached: Skid_Row_tumblr_lfuvlyOrkH1qgf5pho1_400.jpg (300x425, 35K)

lmfao i might want to discuss a 30 year old band on a music forum that has already been endlessly discussed, but at least i dont get triggered when i hear people discuss shit i don't like on Yea Forums. you don't sound much older than the "average nirvana fan" that you mentioned earlier. go back to taking it up the ass from your dad

hair metal was already dying in 1991. nevermind was just the final nail in the coffin. how the fuck did nirvana "murder the spirit of rock" lmfao

you might be thinking of a different song, there was no acoustic version of talk to me. you might be thinking of 'opinion' or 'clean up before she comes' which actually did have 1994 re-recordings, but unfortunately they have been lost to time.

also, if you really think that nirvana 'cut rocks balls off' go listen to bleach or incesticide. the experimental and heavy shit they made is 1000x superior to literally anything from the hair metal era, because they didn't just repeat the same structure every fucking song and endlessly talk about fucking women and how great it was to be a rockstar.

>hair metal was already dying in 1991

>Slave to the Grind is the second studio album by American heavy metal band Skid Row, released on June 11, 1991 by Atlantic Records. The album displayed harsher sound than its predecessor and lyrics that avoided hard rock cliches. Slave to the Grind is the first heavy metal album to chart at number one on the Billboard 200 in the Nielsen SoundScan era, selling 134,000 copies in its opening week. The album was certified 2× platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 1998 for shipping two million copies in the United States.

Also, the reason it "died" was because labels smelled new meat with the Seattle scene and immediately dropped all the bands they had previously supported.

>how the fuck did nirvana "murder the spirit of rock" lmfao
By completely changing it from a rock attitude to an alternative attitude?

Nirvana has a singer who couldn't sing, a guitar player who could't play guitar, and wrote the equivalent of power pop, only bad and mopey sounding...fuck off non musician fuck

Know why hipster critics like Cuckgau hated hard rock and heavy metal music? Because it took talent and musicianship, and he was a failed musician like all music critics are. Know why he liked Nirvana and punk bands? They COULDN'T PLAY MUSIC BUT GOT PAID FOR IT ANYWAY, a critics fucking wet dream

Attached: skidrowslave.jpg (592x581, 159K)

have you heard Kurt's performance of "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" at MTV Unplugged? go listen to that, or that whole fucking concert in general and tell me the man couldn't sing. his vocals were incredibly unique and no one has truly been able to replicate his vocal style since.

also, in regards to kurt not being able to play guitar:
youtube.com/watch?v=BZuc0Tqnqi4
youtube.com/watch?v=y7TPnH5emFg
youtube.com/watch?v=GrciqYehRco

Listen to any of these 3 tracks and tell me the man was not a competent guitar player. he certainly wasn't a god, but you're mentally challenged or deaf if you say he couldn't play guitar. or both

Yes I've heard it, everyone has heard it....and yeah he COULD technically perform the act of singing and playing guitar, just not in an impressive or admirable way, which you know....was the case even for the most cliche or basic of so called "hair metal" bands, Nirvana makes fucking Poison look like Queensryche in comparison for fuck's sake

also, if you've kept up with rock since nirvana disbanded, you'd know they don't all just try to copy nirvana's style of lyrics and music and you're fucking retarded if you think so. radiohead, oasis, pink floyd, red hot chili peppers, u2, and arcade fire are all mainstream rock bands that went on into the 2000s and they all had their own distinct styles. even bands who came from that era like alice in chains, soundgarden, green day and foo fighters have evolved past the grunge/nirvana style and made their own unique styles. it's absolute nonsense to say that every single band after nirvana copied them and them alone

"everyone has heard it" the tracks i've linked aren't even their hits, and you'd know that if you actually listened to them. listen to them and tell me exactly how the man was not good at playing guitar.

I'd rather listen to Sepultura. Way more pissed off, way more relevant.

youtube.com/watch?v=c7Z8Ww1EmMk

>names bands who were around before or at the same time as Nirvana

Wow...nice non point, retard. And bands didn't all copy Nirvana musically but they kept the whiney, bitchy, depressive attitude because Nirvana outlawed being triumphant , celebratory, and powerful in rock music forever.

Attached: 0d0219b2d09ceac141448da0aef.jpg (735x1007, 142K)

>Don’t Want It All
Based and redpilled. First time I see someone mention it on Yea Forums.

you want me to name other mainstream bands that didn't copy nirvana's "whiny" lyrical style that came about after nirvana? the strokes, the killers, imagine dragons, the white stripes, arctic monkeys, arcade fire, u2, (who i've already mentioned) the hives, interpol, incubus.

I'll spell this out for you:

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE BANDS CAME AFTER NIRVANA, AND THEY DID NOT JUST HAVE "WHINEY DEPRESSIVE" ATTITUDES FOR ALL OF THEIR SONGS. JUST BECAUSE NO BAND WANTS TO SING ABOUT BEING A ROCKSTAR ANYMORE LIKE THEY DID IN THE 80S, DOES NOT MEAN THE "SPIRIT OF ROCK" HAD IT'S BALLS CUT OFF BY ALTERNATIVE ROCK.

>U2 CAME OUT AFTER NIRVANA

Fuck off

Attached: poison-cover-photo.jpg (1390x1028, 515K)

here's even more bands that have unique lyrical styles for you, that came after nirvana: death cab for cutie, modest mouse, the new pornographers, shinedown, bring me the horizon, mastodon.

that was an accident, i meant to put oasis, and while they didn't start after nirvana, they started at about the same time as them and they could not be more different bands.

and on top of that, they didn't begin to have real hits until after nirvana and by extension the grunge revolution was done, and went on playing into the 2000s, so it's fair to say they sort of came after nirvana.

what im saying with this is: just because no one wants to sing about being a rockstar and fucking women like everyone did for a decade and a half anymore doesn't mean that rock and roll is dead. unless you consider rock and roll to be a genre based around egotistical faggots who hate woman

>I AM A BIG MORON, NON OF MY POINTS MAKE SENSE, I CLAIM WHINY WIMPY BANDS ARE THE OPPOSITE OF NIRVANA, I THINK EMO AND SCREAMO AND POST GRUNGE IS TRIUMPHANT EMPOWERING MUSIC

Attached: axlsgrin.jpg (500x364, 26K)

such as guns n roses, poison, and other bands like them. if you do, then i guess it is truly dead

hey retard: i never said it was "triumphant empowering music", and if you read literally anything i said you'd know that. what im saying is that most late 90s-2000s bands evolved into their own lyrical styles outside of what nirvana provided and if you've listened to basically anything in the past 10 years you'd know that. EVEN BANDS WHO WERE AROUND AT THE TIME OF NIRVANA HAVE UNIQUE LYRICAL STYLES THAT ARE NOT JUST COPYING NIRVANA'S.

something tells me you've only listened to about 10 albums from the 90s

Also literally none of the bands i mentioned are emo or screamo except for maybe mastodon. If you think that "triumphant empowering music" is Axl Rose screeching about wanting to bang women like he does in basically all his songs, and like basically everyone else in the hair metal era did, then... well, you come from a different era

>BLUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ALL PRE NIRVANA ROCK MUSIC HATED WOMEN DESPITE BEING FULL OF LOVE SONGS AND BALLADS BLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SOMETHING NIRVANA NEVER DID BECAUSE BEING EMOTIONALLY DETACHED IS "KEWL" BLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Attached: warrantheaven.jpg (600x596, 101K)

>BECAUSE BEING EMOTIONALLY DETACHED IS "KEWL"

So fucking annoying and dishonest. Easily the worst thing about Nirvana and their "type" of "human"

Narvana sucks

uh they made being an edgy, angsty emo cool
oh wait the cure did that
alright they didnt do anything

The Cure was loved by goths and wasn't even considered "cool", you got made fun of by rockers or burnouts and jocks and everyone else if you liked The Cure and got called a "fag"

Nirvana literally became the biggest and coolest band on the planet to like

Were they serious with this shit?

Attached: nirv.jpg (500x724, 47K)

I was born in 1991. I came of age like right when grunge was ending and the hell world we all know of today was forming. I was fucking obsessed with kurt cobain when i was a kid. Listened to every album, every demo, every live show, watched every documentary, read every book, read his journals.

I alwasy hoped that maybe the world would be cool again. Like, christ, look at all those albums that came out in 91. I was just a fucking baby, like crawling out of my mothers womb. And it was the last great fucking year in music. And i missed it. I missed it. And every year music gets worse and worse. Like, i had to grow up with fucking KORN and POD. Alright, alright, maybe things will get better, no. Fucking fall out boy and panic at the disco.

FUCK

Okay, surely, things will get better in my 20s.

Rock died. Its nothing but niggers and the music journalists have decided only top 40 pop music is good.

My face when

Attached: angry apu.jpg (734x541, 63K)

Everyone here gives them shit because they think Kurt is a whiney faggot- where in his lyrics does he whine? Imo he was a poet on the level of John Lennon or Paul Simon easily. Just listen to Happy, Something in the Way. It's not whiney sad shit it's just introspection. And yes smells like teen spirit got overplayed to hell but it was a necessary vehicle to bring their music to the masses just like I Saw Her Standing There is a shit song but now we all know about the Beatles

I feel your fucking pain user. I was the weird kid on my bus for listening to Radiohead and Beatles when all the other faggots were into Disturbed, Linkin Park, and other forgettable gay shit of the time

FUCKING LOOK AT IT, LOOK AT IT.
IMAGINE MISSING THAT AND HAVING TO LIVE IN THIS FUCKING "poptamist" CLOWN WORLD

Attached: 1991.png (1202x289, 308K)

They caused it, the death of "fun rock"

Attached: kiss742e5ffd1a7c190af44e9cbc37e318b9--peter-criss-kiss-band.jpg (570x859, 106K)

Worse than Glam rock bands from the 80s.

People fell for the whole aesthetic hook line and sinker though.

of course not. Can't you see it's just there way of appearing 'edgy' and 'cool' by pretending to be all lovey and wearing dresses when performing live and crap?

Reminder that Chadxl Rose would have beat the piss out of Kurt Gobang

Gay
