The best band out of North Carolina, and that includes groups like Superchunk and Polvo. Easily in the top 5 of all indie bands ever.

They were all dorks, even in their recent pics they look like a bunch of dorks even though they're all massive guys (for how tall Eric Bachmann is, he doesn't seem to be that tall because the entire band is at least 6 feet). If he wasn't, you can bet your ass he wouldn't be making the material that you hear on Archers of Loaf.

That said, the glasses don't help.

this. arguably one of the strongest indie albums ever

wow. i´m pretty impresed. i discovered this band by a thread yesterday and now it seems to be well known here today. thought they were really obscure since their videos only have like 10000 views and they resulted to be a band with strong cult following and recognition in the indie genre.
yesterday i listened to some tracks of Icky Mettle and i couldnt finish cause of 2 reasons:
>the sound in the youtube playlist is horseshit, it iwas like harder to listen than Bee Thousand or a black metal album
>i didn´t know much of this band i thought they were a Pavement rip off, since it is an album released in 93

i swear that tonight i´ll give it another shot, the tracks were actually pretty fun, but well, i´m a faggot i guess.

This has been a thing for nearly 30 years now, retard.
They really sound nothing like Pavement and sound far more like all of the other Merge bands that were around them, but your lack of perspective and experience in life wouldn't tell you that indie rock was VERY much a regional scene in the 90s and making cross-regional comparisons usually falls apart and reveals how little the one making said comparison knows. You'd be much better off comparing them to Polvo, and band that predates them and is from their local scene, but keep pretending you know anything about music. Also almost no one had heard GBV until Bee Thousand, thanks to Pollard knowing the Deal sisters and getting in with Kim's boyfriend who produced or put out the record, I can't recall which, but again, a regional thing.

Kim's boyfriend (I believe) was writing for a music magazine and he put out this rave review for Bee Thousand, plus Propeller was a hit with Indie musicians. That man is almost singlehandedly responsible for the Dayton scene, frankly.
