The reason being that I would read a book, and then drop it for the next 3 weeks before coming back to it.

For me my interest in reading has been having its ups and downs the past few years or so, with a good amount of my reading time being me re-reading the various novels I have.

Nigga I graduated from the 25th ranked university in the country as a double major, double minor in just over 3 years. That's after I dropped out of HS and only had a GED and my SAT scores to get me in. I took the SAT test for the first time when I was in 7th grade at Duke University, an ivy league college. I'm a published writer. I have been since I was 12. I was a junior American ambassador to Australia when I was 16, where I got to stay for 2 months free of charge. I got to spain for free when I was 17, based solely off my scholastic merits, merits that I accomplished while I was stoned and drunk the entire time and had 67 absences on average a year. Definetly a good habit to try and use already opened products. I rarely use cream, but in case you want to try something different and have the chance to, I'd recommend pairing it with leek, technically it's best suited with bechamelle instead of cream, but it should work anyway.
Can't help on desserts I barely even make cookies when I feel like it.

Funny you mention the combo, one of my favorite risotto recipes is leek and cream. Man I thini I haven't had leeks with bechamel since my childhood... I recently started making deserts more often since I recently stopped buying sweets almost entirely.

The cream is added at the very end, together with a bit of Parmesan. I tend to make a particularly mild stock for that recipe (vegetable or chicken) as to not overpower the leeks.

As for desert: I rarely make cake, more commonly things like layer deserts (tiramisu and friends), pancakes, puddings (rice, semolina, regular), or things from German speaking countries like Dampfnudeln and Kaiserschmarrn. I tend to avoid baking since most places I lived had terrible ovens. But the occasional cake or pie happens.
