1. Killing was a "random robbery", only guilty parties are the guys arrested (note: NO ONE believes this anymore).
2. "Killed for the sake of clout" - killers took X's life because they wanted clout on social media and in their circle. Involves stalking him and planning out his killing at Riva Motorsports. More believable than the robbery hypothesis but there seems to be a lot more going on.
3. X's mother and/or her drug lord boyfriend organized X's killing in order to control his money. X was facing 70+ years in prison for beating his ex-gf and was almost certainly going to be convicted since new witnesses had come forward. While in prison X would be unable to make new music and would be sitting on top of millions in untouched royalties. Cleo knew her son was worth more dead than alive.
4. Friends of X set him up. According to witnesses questioned, many of X's relationships were not as cozy as things seemed. X was handing around a lot of sketchy people. This can be confirmed by X warning Kodak Black about the people whom Kodak was around and how sketchy they were, meaning the two of them may have been hanging around the same set of goons. The first suspect arrested in X's murder also happened to be Kodak's tattoo artist. There's also questions surrounding X's relationship with his alleged baby mama Jenesis, whether or not the two were actually in a relationship, and whether or not X believed Gekyume was his child when Jen announced her pregnancy.
5. X was killed by demons for nagging them to much without giving them anything in return - ask /x/ about this one.
Why? He had the potential to be the next musical genius.

To add to this: Jenesis may be far more than just a material witness. She's been marked down as a witness since October, which is why Cleo was forced to reveal her as Gekyume's (alleged) mother, she didn't want to look suspicious. This was actually reported when Jen was first revealed: news publications reported that she had info about X's murder. One of X's suspected killers demanded statements from her in order to see if she was the one who snitched on him.
