I spent 4 years in a seminary studying to become a Catholic Priest. Ask me anything - about the experience, culture, related opinions.*
*This is NOT a religion/theology discussion/argue thread. That's a waste of time on Yea Forums. If I deem your statement as such, whether hostile or not, I shall not answer.
Is it true there is an underground priest bare knuckle boxing club?
Jeremiah Peterson
Do the various denominations within the church beef with each other? I can imagine the Jesuits and the OFM Caps don’t necessarily see eye to eye.
Ryan Cooper
Not that I saw but you never know
Noah Torres
How do Catholics see a baptized person that abandoned their faith. And is now curious about joining the Catholic church?
Josiah Collins
Yes,there is a lot of banter with different styles, theologies, points of reference, etc. Nothing overly hostile but there is a certain amount of "beef". I was a diocesan seminarian.
Lucas Wilson
Also in joining the church would there have to be a re baptism?
Christian Nelson
How old were you when you first realized you were gay?
Owen Carter
Still Catholic because you can't unbaptize yourself. Good luck!
Any tips for a couple that's curious about joining? Neither of us have been very religious.
Austin Clark
were you there because you're gay, pedo or both?
Landon Gonzalez
What are some common misconceptions about priests?
Blake Robinson
because he is a satan worshipper
Eli Reed
Why Catholic instead of all the other religions that say the same as yours?
Jackson Jones
Just start going to Mass and being low key. Find a parish that you feel comfortable with. Call or email one of the priests and say that you are interested in joining but not sure where to start. Different parishes do things differently.
Juan Peterson
How do I become an exorcist?
Brandon Perry
put xp points into magic early game, it helps if you chose the sorcerer class
God question. Misconceptions that they don't have their own personal ups and downs; joys and stress. That they're like the ridiculous shallow portrayals in movies and on TV. That they don't have friends. That they're not human beings. That they're all gay and pedos like the above comment.
I have always been Catholic. I am comfortable with being Catholic. I guess part of it is circumstantial and part of it enthusiastic.
Isaiah Collins
Have to be a priest and have a special training and approval for that
>kicked out for being too conservative even for the Jesuits >claims to have left the seminary voluntarily >comes to Yea Forums to be holier than us Which sin has OP committed here?
I was more gung ho when I started. Was in a Newman Club in college and got into my religion. After College, I went in to try it out. After 4 years, and with diaconate ordination approaching, I could just assess that it wasn't right for me for the rest of my life. No hard feelings lol
Ryan Phillips
maybe unusual but I wouldn't say 'weird'
Aiden Wood
That's interesting. Did you party/sex/drugs in college? If so, was that an issue at your seminary? And lastly, did you party/sex/drugs at seminary? I assume no
William Green
A little bit of party/sex/drugs in college. Wasn't an issue at the seminary. At seminary, party drinking culture is a thing. No sex when I was in the seminary except for one summer on a pastoral assignment. No drugs in seminary.
Asher Jackson
I don't want to hijack OP's thread. while I still think me as a priest, I'm not OK with modernist shit. I was kicked out, there's not much one can do about false accusations coming from fuckin gay priests who managed to convince the Bishop describing me as too much "conservative".
wrong. gula should be a fat slob. invidia can't smile. acedia should be literally sleeping. avaritia should be counting money.
something tells me you read too much fanfiction. real Jesuits are indeed on the libtard/woke/freemasonry side.
won't sell. the quality Saturn hat costed me 140 bucks alone. I only wore it once. I don't want some retarded cosplayer wear it.
I guess not even in 1970's there was any legit priest with such a pair of moustaches.
that's a disturbing pic
not weird. people may convert quite late, and then have their kids baptized
not OP, but the most illegal/immoral shit at seminary was having a coffee at midnight, watching sports on Lent Fridays, taking a 2 hours nap in the afternoon, and -horresco referens!- loudly farting in the corridor at 3pm. btw in my country it isn't considered a sin to have a whisky shot after dinner.

I've made this thread here and there on occasion, this is the first time another former seminarian user has chimed in.
