Strict low calorie diets are super hard to manage. Doing timed eating like... 8 hours where you can eat/16 where you don't with higher protein is more sustainable because you aren't always feeling hungry. To each their own, but Intermittent fasting does work.

Eliminate alcohol and refined sugars (soda, candy etc). No more fast food. Avoid eating out in general.

Easy way to remember saturated (generally seen as bad) from unsaturated (the “good” fat in moderation) is if it is solid or liquid at room temp.

Unsaturated is liquid if at room temp

When I was working in Hong Kong, I was drinking like three beers most weekdays, and much more on weekends, and still losing weight. I was eating fruit for breakfast, not overeating for lunch or dinner, walking home from CWB to Sheung Wan after work every day, and doing stuff like walking around the peak and then dancing in clubs at night on the weekend. You don’t need to go into full “no vices” mode, as long as your burning off everything you eat.

Kek nah if I'm sober I'll lose weight in no time, it's staying sober which is the difficult part. I've drank heavy for almost my entire adulthood, so it's going to be a tough challenge. If I can wear a t-shirt without my tits showing I'll be happy, that's my goal anyway
Can you take away whatever it is that makes you drink? I was a high-functioning alcoholic for a while due to a high-stress, high-pressure (but also high-paying) job. Without that, I don’t really feel a need to drink.
It's boredom & stress, there's nothing to do in my area so drinking is the go-to choice for most people, but people like me with addiction issues take it a little too far and drink all day every day. I've lost so many friends, family & relationships through my drinking habits so enough is enough.. Or at least thats what I keep telling myself

Seriously though, as a relatively fit 40-year-old, there’s something cool about being able to walk out the door, and saying, “In 3 hours, I’ll have covered 20km,” on any day, in any weather, and just being able to do it. It’s a bit of an ego boost when women check you out, too. I’ve even had straight guys at the pub comment that I’ve got great legs.

Just remember your body fat is mostly centered around your abdomen because you're male. Male bodies store more visceral fat than women, who tend to get subcutaneous fat around their bodies.
Not to assume you meant it, but the "beer belly" misnomer has less to do with you drinking than it does with your overall caloric intake.
Regarding fat: drinking heavily just means you're taking in lots of liquid calories that you could've avoided had you consumed the same amount of water, usually on top of whatever meals or snacks you're consuming

Recent got sober and a high paying job offer with an ever better offer expected today. Good things come to those who do good. It gets better. I used to drink a handle of 80 proof every 24 hours in addition to drinking at the bar. Shitfaced 24/7. Lost it all.

My job, relationships & mental health have taken such a beating over the years through alcohol abuse. We see people living their lives all the time without feeling the need to get pissed. alcohol shouldn't be as easily accessible or accepted the way it is, it ruins lives. Lift heavy and maintain a calorie deficit. That will work for three months. Then you need to refeed with a 400kcal surplus primarily consisting of carbohydrates. Then repeat the process. Use calipers to measure body fat percentage and get a personal trainer to teach you how to lift or else you will herniate a disk in your spine.

Met a girl after the wife had enough of my shit. This girl is wonderful in every way. Almost lost her too but addiction run in her family, but not her. So, she understood and was supportive, unlike the ex-wife. Ran out of money. As close to homeless as can be. The repeated bouts with vicious withdrawals almost killed me.

AA helps (I know, I know). Just read the first chapter in the AA Big Book (Bill's Story). Come to learn the deeper meaning behind AA. Don't snap your mind shut or compare yourself with the speaker as I did in my first few attempts. There is a deeper meaning to it and you need to find that for yourself. If AA really is not for you after taking my advice about a different approach to it, there are some techniques you can try. Look up C.O.R.E, ACT and "harm reduction".
I now have things to live for after the bottle. There are no answers at the bottom of that bottle, nor the next one, or the next...
Now I have something to live for.
1. A great girl.
2. A great job.
3. A stable roof over my head.
