Ozzy Osborne

What's Yea Forums's opinion on him? Both his solo work and his work with Sabbath.

I feel indifferent about him but religious about Sabbath.

First six Sabbath albums and his first two solo albums are great. The rest I’m indifferent to.

Pretty much invented metal. So he is basically god (Satan?) to proper metal heads. Quite funny old man.
Sabbath bloody sabbath is a great song, lyrics really hit you if you are some poorfag who hates everything and wants revenge.

The people who have crippled you
You want to see them burn
The gates of life have closed on you
And now there's just no return
You're wishing that the hands of doom
Could take your mind away
And you don't care if you don't see again
The light of day

They really need to make a biopic of him, stat.

The definition of a hack. The only thing he had going is a distinctive voice and finding the right band members to write the songs.

Tony wrote the riffs and Geezer wrote a lot of the lyrics. Bill Ward added a nice jazz style drumming to flesh it out. Ozzy had distinctive shrieking and that's about it.

Ozzy wrote the those lyrics though, he was pissed at their label

He didn't write any lyrics until their sixth album, and Geezer still wrote the majority.

is this vinny from vinesauce?

I credit 150% of his solo success to Randy Rhoads. Ozzy wouldnt have made the comeback that he did without him.

This.

Oddly enough I found Ian Gillan to be a better and more horror themed singer for Sabbath.

Total nobody.

Lucky to have surrounded himself with great musicians otherwise he'd died being a petty thief

I've always liked his voice and hes extremely charismatic. I agree that his solo success is all Randy Rhodes, riff and solo master RIP. Early Sabbath wouldn't have been Sabbath without him.

Ozzy is great. Apparently zoomers are hating on him now that they found out he's not really a musician?

Love Sabbath, love Ozzy solo. It's important to recognize it's true he mostly became a mascot and did fuck over musicians who made his career, but that doesn't take anything away from the fact that it's still good music to listen to, and in his own right he did have one of the most unique voices in rock

But better than Bruce Dickie son or Paul McCartney.

solo works become abysmal, equal parts reminiscent 'paranoid' era sabbath 'randy' era + 'whatever current trend in rock' (idk how they'll pull off the next one)
Sad thing it doesn't have to be that way, pair him up with ANY mediocre stoner/retro metal act & ppl will lose their minds how great he still is, sad case of having too many handlers

You better only be talking about the late 90s and 00s , and even not ALL that stuff was awful, just mostly generic and "who gives a shit"

yes, solo works become abysmal, meaning: wasn't always

The correct response.

he's comfy

dubs and he dies soon

Dubs and he pees on you

Gillan is great and incredibly influential, and though he is appreciated within the genre, I feel he is underrated compared to, say, Plant.

A larger than life persona.
If not for Iommi, Geezer, RR, Jake and Bob Daisley he would be shit.

The man is a total retard but I can't help but love him. He's been a part of a lot of my favorite music ever.

Favorite album with Sabbath- tough but I might lean towards Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

Favorite solo album- I'm a bit of a contrarian here because I like the Randy albums ok but they're not my favorites. I think Ultimate Sin and No Rest for the Wicked are both really underrated.

Not a particularly good singer or lyricist, but he had a remarkable knack for finding talented musicians to surround himself with

Yeah most normies and general fans of rock or metal never even heard of him (they’ll know his work). I do find it strange that he gets passed by on most influential singer and screamer lists... definitely had a more intricate voice than Plant in his day. Ozzy? Idk, sings way in that high octave Ozzy range and could scream well enough but I can’t say he was epic.. just my take.

>'whatever current trend in rock' (idk how they'll pull off the next one)
Dreampop crossover? God I hope not.

muh zoomers
