What does Yea Forums think of Jimmy Eat World?
I think they did a lot of great stuff, but sometimes got too glossy. My favorite album is Static Prevails, but Bleed American honestly has some really good songs. I'd say they're not as good as the classics like SDRE, Cap'n Jazz, Knapsack, and Texas is the Reason, but they're the absolute best of the emo-pop thing.
I have a lot of nostalgia for The Middle. Other than that, not familiar with their work.

don't really mean to go on the full on "Not Real Emo!" garbage tangent but i dont really see them as much of an emo band as much as they're just sort of a 90s alt-rock band. i dont think they quite fit into that same niche as the midwest stuff like SDRE or mineral or whatever, and to be honest their music has always felt really corny to me. not disingenuous necessarily, but just like, it feels really unnecessarily lofty. the first poster puts it well in that they get "too glossy" sometimes.
I only remember this band because the lead singer reminds me of Bruce Campbell. Also the Middle is the best pop song of all time.

yeah, ive heard it, i just dont think it fits into that same niche personally. maybe its just that i cant get into the music that it feels sort of uncanney or slightly jarring in comparison to boys life or whatever

I really liked bleed american, sweetness, and of course the middle.
They seemed to fall off the face of the planet after being the ones who actually kicked off emo music being a thing in the 2000s, and emo being taken over by like anyone signed to fuled by ramen
