12 year old me back in 95 was blown away while watching this video on TV at my dad's stoner friends house.

Slipknot was the first band I seriously fell in love with at like 12 years old. 10 years later I can still listen to MFKR, the self-titled, and Iowa in full and enjoy it. The masks might be gimmicky, but I thought they were the coolest thing as a kid. It's surprising the music still holds up though. Maybe I just never grew up.

When you've had the same hip hop/pop shit being pushed on you at school hearing something like Korns first album music videos being played back to back as a 1 off you never hear for a long time after leaves an impression you. That's the thing about that era. (And being that young) You couldn't just punch in a lyric from that song you heard online, you had to cling to that ever fading memory of the guitar and baseline.

someone was claiming limp bizkit was the "biggest band in the world" for a time in a thread yesterday. i dont know what metric they were basing that on though. i saw limp bizkit live in sydney in 2001 when a girl was killed during their set. reminds me, a band i was in almost kicked me out for playing a limp bizkit bass line during practice because they hated them.

Limp Bizkit was without a doubt at least one of the biggest bands in the world for a brief time period. Biggest "new" band for sure, I mean they weren't bigger than Metallica or The Beatles but as far as contemporary artists, they were the biggest for a couple years. It ended rather quickly though, because they didn't handle it right and by they I mean Fred, he quickly became a clown more than anything and considered uncool to every side he was trying to appeal to.
