She’s the female replacement for X. She wasn’t marketed as a suicidal SoundCloud sadgirl until right after X was killed. Interscope no doubt wanted to cash in on X’s posthumous popularity surge. That’s also why Shillie bragged about X making such a huge impact on her life during her Montreality interview despite having never met him IRL.

she is a perfect representation of everything wrong with the music industry. the safe sounds derivative of recent pop music, the omnipresence in major media outlets, the marketing as organic and independent despite being a massive forced meme, the focus on image instead of substance, and the tireless clout chasing/coattail riding of an established scene.
