To me, the album sounded like dollar store Lana Del Rey just with more electronic/trap production. I was definitely expecting some kind of Miami scene-influence when it came to beats (SGP-tier distorted bass and weird synths), and while there was some of that it was very, very watered down, like her brother took some very good SoundCloud beats and poured a ton of sugar on them to make it appeal to teen girls. Her vocals are atrocious. Yes, the whispering would work well with darker and edgier production but they just sounded dull on most of the tracks, plus it's clear her technique is pretty bad.

I wouldn't give it any more than a 4/10.

I've heard a bit of her stuff piece by piece, I even have a FLAC copy of her album sitting around. It's comes off as a Reputation rip-off, which itself was a Yeezus rip-off.

I did, pretty much what you expect, catchy songs with modern production, think of a zoomer Lorde, whacky beats and some silly lirycs, shorter than i expected, solid mainstream pop album.

Wanted to add: I completely agree with the "fake deep" and "fake woke" stuff. I don't understand where music critics are getting the impression she's singing about anything that makes her look profound or socially aware (Shillie singing about politics would be a cringefest anyway). Labels are always trying to cash in on what's big very quickly. They never miss a buzz. The fact is, Billie had no real musical identity when she first came out. She was an industry plant whose brother (who's an experienced producer) wrote ALL her material. She had nothing of her own musically or stylistically. It was only after X died that she started misappropriating that south Florida underground swag and put on a hood accent. And why else do you think she hangs around so many of X's buddies? Why the hell is she going on tour with Ultimate Man if his music is so different from hers? It's all a marketing ploy.

And if you still think I'm crazy, notice the recent influx of X/Lil Peep clones like J00mex.
