Because the primary source of things that shoegaze reflect isn't as meme-tier as of these two's; it is also more diverse as a genre and enriches music by coming up with new techniques of playing

Effects are essential part of the composition as they are used as the means of artistic expression with great emphasis put onto them; using and adjusting effects properly takes just as much skill as playing an instrument, and existence of lots of bad shoegaze bands is a confirmation of this fact

This is my favourite genre of music and it's pretty much my first one. I was really into it before I came west, but I really fell into shoegaze after coming to Vancouver. It took a while, but I finally found a band where I could actually really learn, and get into their sound. All that time spent in Japan it was like a nightmare I had to wake up in to get out of that stuff.

Every other shoegaze band rips off the male/female vocals from MBV and every time the woman sounds great and the man sounds like shit. Are there literally any decent male vocalists in the entire genre?

This genre has some great comfy songs but more often than not it's repetitive garbage.
