I just farted.

Thanks for the input.

fags desu

Greh was stupid to post other peoples content behind a Patreon paywall, and for including the porn stuff in the episode even though he admitted to previously leaving out stuff about Merzbow's personal life in a previous episode.
Merzbow was stupid to post a public callout. Even if Greh wasn't responding to messages, he should have know that it would cause drama.

Merzbow's deleted his tweets about it. Greh's removed the Patreon and episode, and deleted a bunch of his tweets and retweets. The problems between Merzbow, Greh, and GX appear to be resolved, and it's not any of our business anyways.
The drama mostly seems to have been because of people on social media, who are still trying to start shit on Merzbow's apology post.

Imagine actually listening to a podcast devoted to a Japanese vegan noise artist. I don't dislike Merzbow, but jesus. Anybody doing that AND paying for bonus shit is beyond redemption.

The Merzcast guys looked like assholes throughout the whole thing and it turned me off from ever wanting to listen to it.

Quick rundown?

>podcast about mezbow was made
>host put merzbows own art behind a paywall
>merzbow calls them out and they use the 'exposure' bullshit

Original thread: Greh Holger of Hive Mind and Mike Connelly of Wolf Eyes started a podcast called Merzcast back in February. Merzbow even retweeted the announcement.
A few days ago Merzbow found out that they had a Patreon and were putting some of his own content behind a paywall. The posts themselves weren't payed, but you need to be a patron to see them.

Merzbow posted a callout on Twitter. Things seemed to be going well. Twitter bystanders started flinging shit about how the podcast "wasn't making money" and only "promoting his work". They posted shit like "Merzbow is cancelled" and when Merzbow blocked them, started complaining about that.

Several hours go by without the Patreon posts being removed, so Merzbow posts this.
Around this time Merzbow found out that on the last episode, GX Jupitter-Larsen talked about buying porn with Merzbow and his porn habits. Merzbow sent some angry emails to Greh and GX demanding the episode be removed.
Greh and GX both posted their emails, as well as Merzbow calling a fat guy fat, Twitter lost it's shit.

damn Merzbow a savage

>as well as Merzbow calling a fat guy fat
Based.

>What are your thoughts on the Merzbow vs. Merzcast drama?
>drama
It's not that dramatic, buddy.

Several days later things seem to be resolved. Greh deleted the Patreon and the offending episode. The podcast is being renamed Noise World, which makes sense since the last couple episodes used Merzbow as a jumping off point to talk about other noise stuff, and barely mentioned the Merzbow album they were supposed to be about.

Meanwhile people on Twitter and Facebook are still trying to cause problems.

It also goes to show how small and nerdy the noise scene really is if this is the biggest drama in years. Some people had their accounts locked. Several have said that they're selling their Merzbow collections. At least one is going through with it: ducksbattlesatan.com

>It also goes to show how small and entitled the noise scene really is
Fixed.

The podcast had some interesting discussion, mostly from the guests. But the hosts both seem kind of dim. They mentioned several times that they hoped to get Merzbow himself on. (Merzbow's spoken English isn't very good, so he always has a translator or someone speak for him)
When Merzbow called them out for what they did, they seemed genuinely hurt. Greh seemed to think that Merzbow was going to be his best friend.

Merzbow may or may not be an asshole (I don't think he was in this case), but it doesn't matter to me because I don't expect to be friends with someone just because I like their music.

Greh acted like a fucking child

Overall, pretty fucking retarded. No respect or consideration for Merzbow's cultural and linguistic barrier while the podcast dork acted like a manchild.

Honestly, I was really jazzed for the non-Merzbow related podcast. I love the podcast for what it's worth, but they also need to spread their wings and discuss other artists.

So, someone made a podcast about merzbow, and started a patreon so that the people who supported them could get merzbow's art?

> So, someone made a podcast about merzbow, and started a patreon so that the people who supported them could get merzbow's art?
Yes. Merzbow also got upset when he found out later that they talked about his personal life. The Japanese seems to be big on keeping different parts of their lives separate and Japanese artists usually don't reveal much about their private lives.

and that's why the US put those people in camps and nuked the shit out of them.

They shouldnt be charging for a podcast. Merzbow needs to nut up and realize that people are going to talk about shit and that he’s not some fucking invisible porn wizard and that he’s subject to have his life talked about as he’s a public figure. If it was a dick move to talk about it is a different question, but niggas gotta not be so soft.

Hilarious

Not normally using Twitter, I wasn't sure how serious some posts were. Really active users have a sort of simultaneously ironic/sincere style

It's not just him, the whole celebrity gossip culture that exists in the west is way less socially acceptable in Japan. Where he's from, it'd be the norm for him to be able to shut down that kind of discussion. No one involved in the situation seemed to understand the cultural difference.

...

OK, here's your (You), you can stop now.

how'd they find out about it?
