But having said all that I kind of despise the vocabulary that liberals have created around this whole conversation because it reduces issue of gender and sexual identity, which can be very significant if say you come from a homophobic family, to being all about ‘feelings’ and everyone being ‘valid’. I worry a lot of the most repressed and desperate members of the community are being put off by this weakening of gay identity. Take the peculiar idea of asking someone there preferred pronouns in a lgbt space. Aside from any cringe gut reactions as many trans people have pointed out this is actually is a massive Dellma for closset and early transition people because they have to either out themeselve entirely and risk judgement for not passing or remain deeper in the closet and default on a gender identity that there not comfortable with. I’m not even saying something like there are “real” trans people and attention seeking lairs, anyone will to adopt that lifestyle wants more than attention. What I’m saying is a lot the discussion right now seems very much so as not to offend a certain especially sensible portion of people and to be frank there often not the ones taking the blunt of bigotry

If you think about it almost every sort of subculture that was born from geniune expression, shared values or camraderie, ethos, etc. that eventually became mainstream got co-opted, watered down, and reduced to nothing more than a marketing gimmick. It is a bit perverse when you think about the genuine attachment some people had growing up to these cultures, put their hearts into it and how they developed them organically, only to see it reduced to a easily reproduced inauthentic commercial product that could be bought, sold, and disposed of. I'm not saying sexuality is as frivolous as a subculture based on someone's preferred media or clothing, but these subcultures do in many cases become identities shaped from authentic experience, connection with others, and feeling. You are seeing things such as sexuality and ethnic cultural identity become commodities going through that same process. This sort of commodification is the heart of the capitalist system, and it reduces everything to the profit motive, even genuine human expression and organic cultural development that has a deep meaning to many people. I'm sure many on the right (nationalists) could understand this perspective as well.
