america has never really developed the type of class politics that was prevalent in european countries in the post ww2 period. This lead to the creation of substantial social insurences like universal healthcare. Instead america pursues identity politics (race, gender, sexuality etc) which divides and diminishes the effect of class politics.

I get your point but my healthcare isn't tied to my job. My point is more that i get more service for less money in the US while generally earning more. At the end i get the advantages of a private insurance without the huge deductibles I'd pay back in europe. Sure universal healthcare might be better in the big picture, especially considering all the crazies in the street that don't get help, but the people making the decisions are all in the same position i'm in

To be fair the American Healthcare system is ridiculously expensive but if you look at other countries especially Canada for example you'll see that the "free" Healthcare is slow and severely limited.
