What songs use the steel guitar the best? I absolutely love the sound of this instrument and want to hear more things that use it.

12 Golden Country Greats

This is pretty good

This unsettling, lynchian kino: youtu.be/_R9an8AU3No

When I say lynchian I'm not saying that as a meme either, it really is like something by David Lynch. The framing, the colours, the music itself, and the way he talks into a strange machine. It's extremely strange.

See this guy live if you ever get the chance. The whole band puts on an amazing show.

The Spongebob music.

Nice! From what I've read, that's the guy who inspired Peter Frampton to use a talkbox. That video is pretty surreal.

I don't know anything about Peter Frampton, what should I know?

This is creeping me out man

I like him as a guitarist. Not overly flashy, but I think his improvisation is tasteful. This song gives a good feel for how he used the talkbox. That part of the solo comes in around the 7:30 mark. He's apparently losing his ability to play now from a degenerative muscular disease. It's pretty sad.

Dark Side of the Moon

I think the first one is more interesting. A creepy puppet is weird, but the first video is more uncanny valley and unsettling. It just feels wrong somehow.

Reminds me a lot of hauntology actually.

That song is awesome.

Every single country song.

Now if you want a completely different approach to the pedal steel, check out Daniel Lanois. He worked with Eno on some stuff and has a unique approach to the instrument
