I know it was in 02 or 03 I started getting into classical, but I don't think I had much other interest in music at that time.
Truly a dark age of popular music.

You Americans didn't get the real deal. In the Netherlands we had Bert and Ernie classics like ''Ik ben een kerstbal'' and ''maak er wat van''
Did it work? Are you smarter than your peers?

Saw a post on here a while back about some guy who only listened to MGMT's "Electric Feel" in the hopes that it would lead him to enlightenment. Big Yea Forumstard, I know, but there's something about that song... Just something. I don't know what it is, but it started with me listening 2 or 3 times a week. You know, whenever I scrolled through my spotify and saw it. I'd see the song, remember the good chuckle and put it on for memes. Then memes faded to genuine pleasure. Still, it was only a few times a week. Now, though, now I listen to it daily. It's become a habit. Everyday 12:00, 3:30, 7:00, and 9:00. As of late, between 12:00 and 3:30, I'm starting to crave another listen. Might up my dosage a bit.
I didn't originally know what the guy was on about, but now I think I'm on about it, too. My day-to-day has become infinitely clearer. Relationship with the misses has improved dramatically, finals are coming and going without problems, job is thinking about promoting me. I can't liken it all to Electric feel, of course.
I can't, right?
what the fuck
>nogger
needs more sweet trip
No. I do not listen to Electric Feel for any reason associated with musicality. It's beyond that. It's not a drug, either. It's beyond that, too. It's an open door, a first step, a fresh breath, it's something so infinitely banal that it, under certain and careful speculation, reveals to one the necessary and beautiful complexities of life. It's seeing your thumb-print and tracing the shape of its spiral until it morphs into the spiral of the milky way and you realize that one is all and Einstein, Thoreau, Spinoza, and any other pantheist was right, and you are too because you're them just as much as you aren't. It has nothing to do with the rhythm, the instruments, the lyrics. It's a beat, a stand-still, something only evident in the elusive present. It's being right where you are and nowhere else. Sweet trip is fine, but this isn't about that. This isn't about music.
my dad beating my mom while i played in my crib
Kerrang / MTV2 and albums by Linkin Park, Eminem, Gorillaz, Limp Bizkit, Foo Fighters (One by One the song was fucking massive), Nirvana (the greatest hits with You Know You're Right), Marilyn Manson and RHCP. Also started using Kazaa and downloading songs on that and eventually albums, think that was the year I dl'ed One Hot Minute and that christmas downloaded Let Go by Avril Lavigne for my dad (he was interested in her for some reason)
