Is this the best video game of all time? Between this and Ocarina of Time I dont think there's a single video game out there that can come close to these games in terms of greatness. Truly a masterpiece that transcends the test of time
Is this the best video game of all time...
it's shit. now piss off back to Yea Forums, faggot.
Meh
Of its time, sure
>FFVII
>greatnes
Good for it's day. Other jrpgs have long surpassed it though. Elden Soulsbornekiro, is the goat.
One that you enjoy the most.
No far from it. It's a 7/10. So good, but not great. And certainly not legendary. The time when you were a kid is when everything around you is highly exaggerated.
Indeed is my friend! Today they don't make games like this anymore. Sadly...
No. Fuck off console pleb!
Not even close, faggot. It's not even the best Final Fantasy of all time.
It's hard to pick just one, but I think N64 edges out the competition for me.
I wouldn’t say greatest of all time but it’s up there for sure. Was pretty ahead of its time.
Great music, great storyline, great character development, replay value, etc...
Also, the Tifa and Scarlet bitchslap fight on the cannon in Junon lul.
a game is suppose to never die.
did chess die?
cards?
wtf is a game that lasts a few years?
ITS NOTHING! FOR SATAN'S SAKE!
maybe fifa or something will last i dunno.
what is the longest lasting game?
counterstrike lasted long but I think fifa was longer? i mean come on.... shooting eachother dead cant he a sport or game right?
I couldn't get into VII specifically. Personally I really enjoyed IV and IX a lot more, even V it's quite fun. The best in the saga is and would be VI forever.
Also FF is quite overated Secret of Mana was a lot more fun.
I got bored to dead of random combat every five damn steps. That's why I will always consider my personal fav XII.
I see your FF7 and raise you Xenogears.
FFVI was amazing, not a fan of action RGS though. Suikoden was quite good IMO.
*ARPGs
Yeah gotcha I played way too much turned based combat games I can't play any never again. As I'm getting older (33 soon) I enjoy easier games. Sacred Gold for example and some retro games I play ocasionally!
Based OP doesn't know about Suikoden or Breath of Fire series.
FF7 > any game mentioned.
Way to not be a faggot for once, OP
The best video game of all time is the original Half-Life
PSX era was truly unique. I would argue Crash Bandicoot was one of the best of the console with Abbey's Odessy.
But yeah rpgs are the shine of the psx instead of xenogears I would choose Vagrant Story
The PSX is great, it has a ton of good games. It also has a ton of shitty shovelware, maybe even more than the Wii has. But overall I'd it has one of the best libraries of any console
WoW best game ever. It had 65+ guilds. military personel were playing together with children who just came home from school. people married in that game. lol
I've always hated that dogshit game, but I do agree that there's an argument to be made for it as the GOAT, it's undeniably up there.
Any of you play Lunar Silver Star Story on PSX? I really liked that one.
Great game!
FF8 was better
I would say Read Dead Redemption II is probably the best game, but it could also be Breath of The Wild or Terraria
I played starwars galaxies instead but I agree, wow had a big impact on people's lives. It changed a lot about how we do mmorpgs
Yeah it's great. I like the sequel too. It has 5 fucking discs.
I noticed you used a pic from the classic era. Respect
I fucking hated galaxies. Member spending most of my time afk in the clinic due to piss poor gameplay mechanics. SWTOR was much better.
>Is this the best video game of all time?
Of course not. It's solid but it aged very poorly. There are way better games these days compared to this and Ocarina of Time. This is why games should be compared on a decade to decade basis. It's similar to sports in that sense.
Everytime I feel that perhaps my heart has begun to heal, some asshole comes along and rips off the scab.
im sad about WoW and the company dying such a long and slow death.
thought we'd have World of Diablo and Overwatch mmo by now.
Used to have a crush on this chick back in the day...
Depends on how you rate a game. Is story more important than graphics?
It alwaays is more important.
Generally speaking yes but you shouldn't have to choose one or the other anymore. That's kinda the point I'm trying to make. That's the thing with older games the graphics are badly outdated.
This game is etched into my being
What on earth is microsoft planning? they got bethesda blizzard activision and halo and minecraft.
they can make the worlds greatest game. put all the best into one game lol.
I don't get why you're complaining. It's like bitching because people not having cell phones in the medieval years.
Been playing the original FF7, theres so many annoying parts in the storyline, also i remembered why i got away from these kind of games, the railroad tracks feel on the singular storyline is exhausting.
Breathe of fire is bittersweet in that its really fun but a fucking random battle chore.
everquest or age of conan?
100%, story and gameplay are all that really matters to me. I'd even argue shit graphics add to a game's appeal for me. The 8-bit era, the shitty polygons when they first started making 3D games, shit like Runescape... those ass graphics just gave the games their own aesthetic and personality.
Everquest. Never played age of Conan.
Eq, dark age, wow
Level of importance
1. Gameplay
2. Story
3. Graphics
Then they ruined SWTOR with power creep and general dumbing down of play. Its nothing like it was originally. That and the market inflation is way out of hand. I came back to it for a while, was sorry i did.
I'm not complaining, I'm just saying I don't like when people claim games that were made 20+ years ago are the "greatest of all time". You can't compare games from that era to the ones today. It's like people who say so and so was the greatest baseball player of all time when they played in the fucking 50s. The game was way different back then.
Pretty good game. I remember buying this and thinking it was my first big game game. Mega Man Legends is better though.
A great game is a grreat game regardless of when it was made.
Holy fuck I miss Civ II. None of the new ones came close.
People are going to be in a tizzy when they find out Bethesda has been taking a few years now to create a space type simulator game instead of the next Elder Scrolls game.
U probably like fortnite lol nigger
Fair
It makes no sense, who is gonna play it unless we all get free quantum computers or some cloud revolution on cheap 6g zero latency internet lol.
Fine but you can't claim a game this fucking old is the greatest of all time, that's just ridiculous. Yes, at the time it was a classic. The game has aged very poorly since then. Ocarina of Time aged better in comparison but greatest of all time? I don't think so.
I never said it was. But I will say games put more effort into story when the graphics were limited.
What’s the greatest game in your opinion and how do you rate it so?
honestly, soccer is most popular game. Fifa will probably be greatest of all time.
>game that's irrelevant in the only relevant country on earth
kek
The OP is claiming it's the greatest of all time. I'm not saying it sucks but it's not a realistic comparison to games that were made in the last 10 years.
I don't know what the greatest game of all time is because I haven't played all the ones that are considered among the best. But my top three would be Witcher 3, Deus Ex Human Revolution, and Civ4. All three of those are far better than FF7 in my view. I'd also say every God of War game is better.
>In b4 hur dur you have shit taste in vidya
why are you a stone? x'D
No hate from me. I feel like video games are so tied into nostalgia that favorites are different for everybody.
I enjoy Witcher 3 because there are no negros, I can fuck multiple female characters, my lead is a badass whose ethos I can choose, the monsters are complex and there are dozens of unique one, and the characters are well thought out and varied as well. Don't get me started on all the choices I can make and the two expansions. 10/10
Depends on the genre. As far as RPGs go it's a tossup between Xenogears and KOTOR.
I would say Bloodstained is the best Metroidvania style game.
DCS world is the best Sim game. The Gran Turismo series the best driving games.
For me gameplay is the most important, then story when it is applicable.
Best of all time is in the perspective of the person claiming it. You think ff7 is best and I dare say super metroid is better.
seems like LoL, fortnite, warzone, and maybe counterstrike are most popular games. right?
Zoomer detected.
I get that but it still annoys me. Now if you want to argue it's the greatest of it's time period that's a different story, but claiming it's better than games available today is non-sense.
Well said, That's my favorite side scrolling shooter of all time.
popular doesn't make best, popular is just normie bait.
>Zoomer detected.
Dude I'm probably older than you. I remember when Ocarina of Time came out as a kid and yes, at the time I thought it was amazing. Same with Mario 64 and all the other great N64 games. Would I consider those same games better than the ones out today? Absolutely not and no reasonable person would either.
Exactly. Quite often the most popular just appeals to the lowest common denominator.
That's a rather arrogant statement to make.
play FF14
and dont install it and play for an hour and stop
play all the main story and come back and say with a straight face that 7 or OoT is better
3 and 4 were okay. 5 sucked. 6 went back to being okay. Alpha Centauri was on par with Civ 2 though. Really I miss the advisors from civ 2.
Gay tranny weeb. Minecraft is easily better.
The opening music to ocarina of time makes me tear up to this day. Nostalgic af
However, Witcher 3 is the absolutely the best game ever made to date
FF10 had an excellent story as well.
>Is this the best video game of all time?
No, but it is the best jrpg video game of its year. SaGa Frontier, Parasite Eve, Silent Hill 1-3, Demons Souls, GTA Vice City were better titles, and even FFVIII was an improvement. FFVII has a few things going in its favor, but none stronger than being the first big budget jrpg on a new generation of hardware.
>That's a rather arrogant statement to make.
How?
That's what I mean. Depending on who you ask Witcher 3 is the GOAT right now. It's definitely one of the best games I've ever played and it blows Ocarina of Time out of the door. But again we're talking about two games that were made 20+ years apart, so it makes no sense to compare them to each other. In 20 years from now people will say the same thing about Witcher 3 in all likelihood when another game is considered the GOAT.
