So, I recently got into 90s (alternative) rock. From grungy stuff like Alice in Chains, Noizegarden and Crimeny to now Garbage. And frankly, I like it. Plus, Shirley Manson looks like a chick I used to work with who was a great gal to be around and whom I would have dicked down hard if I hadn't been in a relationship at that time.
Can you recommend me more of that kind of music? 90s rock I mean. Also, talk about that stuff.
For female fronted alt rock/grunge, I can't recommend Veruca Salt enough. Great vocal harmonies, and Louise Post is actually a good lead guitarist. I'd start with 1994's American Thighs youtube.com/watch?v=fxNZKSpmnqs
My pleasure user. I had overlooked them all this time until this grunge/alt rock themed youtube account put them on a 2 hours of grunge compilation: youtube.com/watch?v=poSOWYr4izM&t=1074s On a collection with so many great bands it was Veruca's song which actually stood out to me.
James Howard
Try Letters To Cleo, Hole, female singer-songwriters in general were great in that decade
Luke Wilson
The Breeders (or that brief time they were called The Amps) are probably the 90s alt rock chick band that holds up the best for me. Though I def like the others mentioned in here too like Garbage and Veruca Salt, but Kim Deal's raspy voice is hard to beat for my money.
I was listening to Pretty on The Inside just last night, forgot how intense it was. Been meaning to try Liz Phair since the Veruca girls thought so highly of her. Just dive into her first record I assume?
Henry Powell
Everything before Liz Phair's self titled is good, but yeah Exile is a good place to start
