The joints didn't break, they just loosened up to the point to where she couldn't stand on them any more. If I try to stand her up now she just flops over after a couple seconds.
I tend to be a bit hard on my toys, so I'm sure the constant sex didn't help, but yes, just "normal use". It also depends a lot on the manufacturer -- mine is a Piper Doll, which I now know does have a history of this issue, but there are plenty of owners of dolls made by other companies who have been fucked regularly for 5+ years that are still plenty stiff and can stand with no issues.

I believe traditional skeleton would have too many structural flaws. Also you have to worry about material type, weight, cost, durability, articulation.
Of you make it light weight, it could break easily if you stress it too much. If you make it all out of steel and metal, it will be too heavy.
There is always a give and take balance. A simple skeleton made of hollow steel rods is the current solution.

A proper skeleton would make the body look and move realistically. It would have to be very light, perhaps made of a low density but high strength polymer and the joints held together with artificial tendons.
