They come in many sizes, mine is just up to 4L I think. You boil water in the large compartment and steep very concentrated whole leaf black tea in the teapot. Once done it is kept warm by the boiler below. Everyone then takes turns pouring themselves concentrate and diluting it with the water from the boiler (hence the bottom tap). It's a very social way of drinking tea. Fun, too!
