K, firstly, lets talk about how gay you are for even making this. Why are you using an AR platform for a med/long range DMR? And probably using 5.56/.223 for the feat?
Just doesn't make sense. Other platforms and stock builds do a superior job for less money.
Secondly, this isn't a home defense weapon. Not in the slightest. To claim that is absurd, so don't. 5.56/.223 have too much overpenetration and can travel to other objects you don't want to hit, like your own kids.
A handgun/shotgun would be preferable for that situation. Specifically a .45 and birdshot rounds respectively. No, 9 mm has the same problems as 5.56/.223, overpenetration. Buckshot you could get away with, slug rounds are out, because, again, overpenetration.
Thirdly, you probably spent a fuck ton more than the gun is worth. But thanks for throwing money to make your dick look bigger.

When Mikhail Kalashnikov designed the AK47, he wanted something that would be easy to produce, maintain, and operate. Most of the Red Army were poor country boys from the sticks who considered a tractor a piece of high technology. In weapons design, you need to pander to the lowest common denominator in your ranks. The phrase "So easy a caveman could do it" comes to mind here.

I own like 8 AKs because they're fun as fuck, but I admit a good AR still better than a good AK. ARs have better ergos, easier to customize, easier to suppress, faster to reload, and lots better ammo choices in 5.56 than either 7.62x39 or 5.45x39.
