No. The defining comfort factor is the ring size. It shouldn't be too big (you will slip out) and not too small (it will hurt). Most cages comes with a variety of rings. My personal technique for "fitting out" a new cage: put on a ring you think it will fit, lock up and go for a walk. If it hurts, use a bigger one. No, that's not true. All a belt/string does is discourage the device from pulling away from the body.
