I have to pay the solar panel company monthly (renting panels on a 20 year loan) and then I get to pay the electric company on months that don't produce enough solar because I didn't get credit for the power I produced in excess.

In the US solar panels are expensive so you can rent them from a provider. My contract was a 20 year loan. I pay $120 a month. The power company (Reliant) used to give you a credit for excess energy. In the summer I paid nothing because it's Texas it's sunny. In the winter I had "sold" enough energy to Reliant that it carried me over until summer. Effectively I was only paying $120 to the solar provider. Which was cheaper than what I was paying on just electric. Now I don't get credit so in the winter my solar production is insignificant enough that still pay around $120. The difference is now I have to pay $120 to the panel company as well. Effectively doubling my energy bill. Hope this helped you understand better.

In the US and have solar. I leased it..... I work from home so I would be paying for power anyways.

Paying the 100$ in solar saves me about 150$ that is with paying the power co the Min amount of 17$ a month for being connectes till.

only a few states do solar work really well otherwise you need a shit ton of panels and good equipment.

I don't remember off the top of my head. Yeah the company covered my entire roof with panels. I probably pay a premium to them because of it. But like I said with the credit I was producing around $200 in the summer on credits.

if its a 3 bedroom house than youd have to produce more than 50Kw/H as thats what I produce about during the summer. maybe a bit more.

if you are not producing that much then they may have used smaller less efficient designes etc. sucks to get fucked like that. Idk your situation but southern cali, AZ, NM, and Texas are really about the only places solar can be super effective with little cost.

otherwise you need the most efficient panels. SOlar leases from sunpower use the msot effective panels typically.
