you don't need a firearm with a caliber larger than .22 Long Rifle for home defense since most home invaders don't wear body armor and you're less likely to damage your hearing firing .22 indoors without protection. Anything larger is overkill

I just live somewhere that's not a crime ridden shit hole instead. It's a privilege you get when you invest your time educating yourself and getting a career. I don't want to live somewhere I'd need to have a gun. I don't even like driving near trailer parks.

.22lr is good for squirrels. you're not going to drop anyone with those. best home defense is a shotgun.

people who carry larger than 9mm are compensating for their tiny penis

>damage your hearing
no firearm is going to damage your hearing you absolute larping nigger pussy faggot.

Nope. You need stopping power in a defensive situation, .22 is not going to do that

you should stay away from guns. they can be scarry to bitch bois and faggots.

That caliber reminds them too much of their own penis. They need something so big or couldn't possibly remind them of their tiny dick. Like 9mm.

Meh. I mean, a 22lr may cause someone to die, but I don't trust myself to hit the sweet spot in a home defense situation before the intruder can get to me. I got a seven shot 357 revolver in the bedroom

What the fuck? Spoken like someone who knows nothing about home defense or guns. 22lr isnt guna do shit except scare someone, unless you put the barrel in their eye.

Shotgun's the way to go. Maybe #6 load

how's the permanent ear ringing my friend?

you really think people that have a gun for home invasion are compensating for their penis size? i get the beta gamers that buy ar15 or samurai swords but that doesn't apply to personal home protection.

Nogunz detected.

What a faggot.

not sure if trolling bullshit or genuine ignorance but guns is loud as fuck. shooting an intruder is gonna hurt the ears

Found another faggot.

of course its going to look small next to a big gun. that doesnt mean ive got a small penis. it just means ive got a bigger gun than you

This has to be bait, no one is really this stupid.

been hunting all my life. will go through two boxes of shells when walking the fields hunting pheasant or duck. no problem and no body wants a hunter to have earplugs in their ears and shooting deaf and unaware.

Slug

Dead center mass

Here's your anti-armor.

Ignore these retards ITT, .22lr will absolutely take out a man. Poachers in Africa were able to bag an entire elephant with a volley of .22s. Even if the round doesn't kill, it absolutely will stop someone from attacking further. Nobody is able to just tank .22s unless they happen to land somewhere like the back of their leg

Nah at room range shot would do a better job and there's no risk of over penetration.

i use fn57 with high velocity rounds. it is about the size of a .22 round and it will pierce body armor and tear an intruder up. i can even shoot it through walls and kill someone trying to hide. ye nobody can f with me

12 guage browning over under.
12 guage remington pump action 3 shot
ruger 22
remington model 722 .300 Savage

True, but I prefer overkill. Might as well kill Tyrone the Second by having fragments go through Tyrone the First.

I mean, 5.56 NATO is technically a .22 caliber round...

Just get this bad boy with the extended mags and subsonics and your ready to rock.
50 angry bees ready to fly as fast as you can send em, and it wont be any louder than a smoke detector going off.

no worse than lighting an m100. your ears will ring for a second but that's not how you decide wether or not you want to protect yourself from an intruder. haven't you ever shot a gun at the range? you hold it at arms length in front of you, not next to you ear. it's not fucking that loud. even though i know you're trolling...

TBH the shot will do more major trama as it will make a much larger wound than a slug unless it's a Barnes or some other hollowpoint.

Has shot 556 indoors, no hearing damage. Stop being a pussy.
>fucking larpers

it is, your hearing is just too permanently damaged to realize it

Ah so its fudd then. I bet people tell you to stop yelling when you think your using your inside voice because your hearing is so fucked.

when was the last time you actually got your hearing checked?

no u

I just hear voices telling me to kill niggers and jews.

get a hearing test, please

i herd u liek mudkips.

When I left the marines in 18

guns are loud. 22lr stings a little, 9mm and above hurts. everyone at the range wears ear protection for a reason. have you ever been to a range?

I would argue a .380 is a perfect self defense round

>subsonics
Why? Any .22lr round is going to be subsonic out of such a short barel. You need as much muzzle velocity as you can get

I've shot one of these, it's fucking amazing

I like to overkill. Helps me sleep at night.

As someone who has hunted and served in the military as infantry I still have great hearing and go to the range without ear pro

your ears are so fucked you don't even notice. go for it bro, i encourage you to fire your guns indoors without ear protection. i hope you do so often.

why pay money to find out your hearing sucks? there isnt anything they can do for you

voices you say?

Attached: moonman-3.jpg (102x120, 3.25K)

They do, just takes a lot of exposure for it to really become noticable. Used to trap shoot weekly without hearing protection through highschool and college, now I got tinnitus. Hunting and occasional target practice without any protection is probably not gonna cause any real noticable damage, chronic exposure like in competitive shooting or the military definitely will

more power to you. some people smoke a pack a day for 40 years and don't get cancer, still doesn't mean it is advisable or a good idea

I would argue that you're a fucking idiot.
10mm or 45acp FTW.

I'm sure you don't. We all know you're full of shit anyways, because even if you don't give a shit about your hearing long-term, firing anything 9mm and above is just downright uncomfortable and sometimes painful. I know because I've been caught at the range without earplugs more than once. It's not a pleasant experience

It has less powder charge which means less concussion from the blast. Its really like shooting a co2 bb gun, regular 22. however does sting a bit.
Its primarily supposed to be used with a suppressor but its still quieter overall.

I don't have to go to a range. I live in a small town with nothing but farmland.
22 doesn't need ear protection.
12 guage shotgun isn't fucking loud enough to cause your ears to ring. it's no louder than a car backfiring. do you think soldiers wear ear protection when firing their rifles? at an indoor range yes, obviously, because you're in a booth and the echo is concentrated.

12 Gauge is better imo. IDGAF about my ears if some fucktard breaks into my home. I just want to put them down with my rooty tootie point and shooty

Pretty much, this was the rational behind the American 180

youtu.be/J50N5lQoAFw

and visions of superiority.

>12 guage shotgun isn't fucking loud enough to cause your ears to ring
Your full of shit and just making assumptions because your own hearing is wrecked. Last time I fired a 9mm without hearing protection my ears were humming for the next week, that low volume high pitch EEEEEEEE is still in my ears though long after the fact.

shut up nogunz

Long guns do not have the same amount of noise that a pistol makes. The source is also further from your ears

Attached: 1620860091062.jpg (704x782, 57.17K)

OP is right, this thread is full of nogunz fudds. also, 22 has enough energy to enter the body but not enough to exit it, so it bounces around and does a ton of damage, more than a round going straight through would.

22 is really all you need for almost anything if you can shoot.

22 master caliber

Depends on the round and load. yeah, if im trap shooting with birdshot i'm not going to worry much but if i'm shooting magnum loads from a pistol, then i can see a potential problem. i definitely an not going to worry if im out plinking squirrels and jackrabbits with my 22.

dude, hearing damage is wide spread throughout the military. its a big problem for vets. you get by with it because it is more important to kill the enemy than the make sure you can hear.

i go shooting at a clearing in the wood. i got nice ear protection because i want to enjoy my target practice. keeping hurting yourself tough guy .

umm, Im thinking based.

Its a mere 20inches further away at most, and long guns are most likeky going to have supersonic muzzle velocities and produce sharp shockwaves

i got it too man, i actually went deaf for the better part for a day after a few mags of 7.62x39

i had to stop shooting without muffs in my late teens. forgot to cover my ears when firing my 6.5 grendel once and that sucked

*once recently
