I just picked the top two results searching "girl from ipanema cover" on youtube, for consistency. The song choice is unimportant, but each cover by each girl is a good example of this dumb style of singing that's popular with every girl as of late. It's this like, faux-soulful/bluesy accent or voice affectation. I have no idea why literally every girl sings like this and thinks it's good (just look at the comments about the first girl's voice). It's annoying as fuck and ruins any song that's sung like that. My single biggest pet peeve in music at the moment, honestly
they make a sound that resembles human voice, but is just an impostation, not true chest resonant voice that comes from within. they talk and sing from the skull and out, superficial talking and singing, aka soulless expression.
its what it is bro.

That's the "indie" voice

Hey man just like Father John Misty said,
>I hate that soulful affectation white girls put on
What an idiotic thread, that song has always been sung in that style.
Eli Myers
No, it hasn't. I enjoy Astrud Gilberto's voice and solo work.
Dominic Sanchez
Incredible, it's almost as though certain styles become popular and people sing in the popular styles! Wow! Great find OP, kys!
Caleb Jackson
t. girls that sing like this
Ethan Cox
This is literally exactly what he was talking about. Misty is right again.

t. talentless roasties who consider this cheap gimmick to be an advanced technique and make them good artists. not that females can be artists at all, anyway

15 years ago every girl tried to sing with that very gutteral inflection that Bjork had, and every guy tried to sing like Eddie Vedder. Styles change. I know your brain isn't fully formed yet, and you haven't been live very long, zoomer, but things aren't looking good for you.
Cameron Brooks
Those trends were just as shit. You should try to have your own voice and be original
Ethan Cooper
you know the answer OP
Hudson Cook
Of course they were shit, but they were trends and that's fucking point that OP seems to be missing is that this is a stupid trend, like all other trends and it will pass.
