Essentially he started joining in every week and spammed terrible screamo and awful meme albums he made with his brother. He also created a bunch of unfunny in-jokes with many of the recurring members there. Basically it alienated everyone, including the big ringmaster of this shit and he passed it off to this other guy. At that point it was too late, the whole thing became a big tumblr-tier circlejerk, and they gave up. Now it turns out that half of the prominent members had ties to rym discord community, so it’s no surprise it became so shit. Those half now identify as commie trannies and are obsessed with getting on rym lists and stirring the pot and whatnot, while everyone else involved in the listenalong jumped ship as soon as this shit started to stink. It’s a shame really, the listenalong was great fun before it turned into /rym/ type shit, and I found a lot of music from there.

In general it wasn’t that interesting sadly. For the most part it was just constant instagram tier memeing from 13 year old communists, but there were a few users who had really great taste. I remember this one guy was big into 60s & 70s electronic music, and another was into Exuma, jazz, and reggae. Overall though we normally listened to shitty overplayed Yea Forumscore albums, emo garbage, and occasionally entry-level metal or prog. In a way, it was a lot like Yea Forums as a whole; there are some people with great taste who get no attention, while 13 year olds who listen to Fishmans post some shit thread about Yea Forumscore, politics, or the LGBT and it’s up all day.
Probably the most interesting bit about the listenalong is the fact that Marcel was an active member, and the listenalong members were the ones who got him to move on from music and delete his rym account. Of course, in his place came communist shitposting and gender dysphoria.
