why does everyone say they suck? everybody i know hates them for the iphone shit and growing up i heard they were the worst band ever. but that kendrick feature they did was fire + this...so i dont get it what they do to piss people off?

It's like Weezer, early U2 is great, but their latest output has been a joke and it's the only thing Zoomers know them for. They ruined their own legacy for furure generations.

Their run from Boy to Zooropa, 1980-1993 is all pretty good, and after their first three albums they were produced by Brian Eno. (Rattle and Hum is bloated crap but has a handful of good songs).

Also, they made a more experimental side-project album in 1995 under the name Passengers. Always worth checking out and might low-key be their best album.

op here, i'm 18 so i didnt really grow up with them, parents didnt really listen to them

i knew the name never really heard the songs maybe once or twice on the radio but i never heard the later stuff so that never really ruined my judgement. i found out about vertigo from here and apparently that's a shit song but it's like 30 years after they've started, i mean who cares that doesnt negate all the good music.

they have a negative image among people my age though and i remember when that iphone thing happened people were straight pissed. I had an android of course.

Great band. Consistently great run up to and including Pop. Then they just mailed it in.

2000's All That You Can't Leave Behind is a nice record, but it really did establish the incarnation of U2 everybody seems to hate. Too radio-friendly, too complacent.

Amazing fuck probably won’t see a rock band on that level again even Pop mart hasn’t been outdone. I regret not seeing them on that tour. They’re not good now but at one point the best band for that size. U2 are underrated and I would listen to them over pavement or some bs band like that.
