I challenge you to recommend a song more depressing than Needle in the Hay by Elliott Smith youtube.com
but there's a twist:
1- It shouldn't be shoegaze or post-rock, just a simple acoustic song really.
2-No other Elliott Smith songs

IT'S BY CAPTAIN SPARKLEZ YOU UNCULTURED SWINE

I've heard alot about this girl
And i don't wanna hear about her now
If you think she's what you need then go ...
"good luck, might see you again" is our road now
But I feel so sad, can this be right?
Cos I loved our days and I loved our nights
I loved it when you would hold me tight
And for a while our world seemed bright …
I've heard alot about this girl
She gives you the run around for sure
And you're pushing me away
So I'm taking my love away
And I hope one day you find
The things you really need …
But I feel so sad my body aches
I feel so sad, like I could ache
I hold on for another day
But mny whole world has blown away ...
But please remember I loved you dearly
Just wanted to kiss, to hold you near me
fuck if i remember, all those minecraft LPers melded into one blob of overexcited screaming söyboys in my head
Idk, antvenom was pretty relaxing and laid back
OP here, the songs that come close are the ones by Morissey and Cranes and...
Mount Eerie which totally crushed my soul (knowing the contxext of the song and album)

This is the most brutal breakup song I've ever heard. If you've ever had a bad ending to a relationship this is crushing.

Early Sunsets Over Monroeville - My Chemical Romance
[Verse 1]
Late dawns and early sunsets
Just like my favorite scenes
Then holding hands and life was perfect
Just like up on the screen
[Pre-Chorus]
And the whole time while always giving
Counting your face among the living
[Verse 2]
Up and down escalators
Pennies and colder fountains
Elevators and half-price sales
Trapped in by all these mountains
[Pre-Chorus]
Running away and hiding with you
I never thought they'd get me, here
Not knowing you changed from just one bite
I fought them all off just to hold you close and tight
[Chorus]
But does anyone notice? But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head
But would anything matter if you're already dead?
And should I be shocked now, by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger, your eyes vacant and stained
But does anyone notice? But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head
And would anything matter if you're already dead?
And should I be shocked now, by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger, your eyes vacant and stained
And in saying you loved me made things harder, at best
And these words changing nothing as your body remains
And there's no room in this Hell, there's no room in the next
And our memories defeat us, and I'll end this duress
But does anyone notice? But does anyone care?
And if I had the guts to put this to your head
But does anything matter if you're already dead?
And should I be shocked now, by the last thing you said?
Before I pull this trigger, your eyes vacant and stained
And in saying you loved me made things harder, at best
And these words changing nothing as your body remains
And there's no room in this Hell, there's no room in the next
But does anyone notice there's a corpse in this bed?
This is pretty good user.

Thanks for making a song that made me cry user, I needed it. Just went through a breakup from a long-term, complicated, and mostly toxic relationship and I've been avoiding dealing with my feelings about it. Your song helped me face them a bit. Something about the flesh and bone lyrics gets to me, I think it was because she liked that kind of imagery in the music we would listen to together, and because I regret all the ways that we hurt each other.
