If zoomers are going to shit on U2 because their later work is terrible, they better shit on Weezer too. Yet zoomers still love Weezer and buy their meme Africa songs but U2 gets laughed at because of the iphone album thing.

U2 is the same as weezer. A band that had good stretches early on and played themselves out to a disgusting extent

U2 never made anything that speaks to me, it's pure boomer "yeah man the world is so beautiful and uplifting" soccer mom core. Weezer made fucking Pinkerton. Weezer made songs that we grew up on and not shitty songs to apple commercials.
Weezer made 2 classic albums and white/ewbaite are pretty good.

I agree, but the difference is Yea Forums and young people in general constantly shit on U2 because their later work sucks (rightfully so) but Weezer gets more of a pass. Even if critics and Yea Forums will point out Weezer's later stuff sucks, they're still mostly respected here and still reasonably popular even today amongst normies while U2 are a punchline.

yeah that is a fair point. has to be generational bias more than anything. more than five seconds of critical thinking would tell a person that modern weezer is pretty pathetic, definitely as low as U2 and scraping the bottom of the same barrel
