"Arguably".

fuck them it's cool
all
i
know

no. that would be zen arcade, followed by daydream nation.

Hatful of Hollow by the Smiths

first of all, that isn’t an album it’s a comp. second of all, they aren’t indie rock newfag

manic street preachers are slightly better

but it's up there

The Clean - Compilation

>second of all, they aren’t indie rock newfag
being this uninformed

brits cannot be indie. their “indie” scene is what americans call punk. the “sound” of indie is american. indie isn’t a genre anyway, it’s a goddamn scene identifier.
sure you have the buzzcocks who were the first well-known diy band and all that jazz, but at the end of the day, Smith’s are a far continuation of britain’s punk scene, making them post-punk and jangle pop.

youre living all over me

Surfer Rosa was better.

Any band who's ever been signed to Subpop, 4AD, Creation or Matador can't be considered "Indie". This is irrefutable

this right here

It is just pure irony, I won't waste myself with music that doesn't want to be taken seriously

fuck no it is a mediocre album at best. their inuences did everything pixies tried to do but way better.

It's so fucking good

Actually, yes.
Interesting, but no.

maybe this

>Subpop, 4AD, Creation or Matador
They were all indies in the 80s when they started out though.

...

the fall shaped tons of "indie" american groups predating groups like pixies, pavement, sonic youth, steve albini, garage revival, dance punk, and the likes. the fall isn't punk neither "post punk", they are less arty and more direct, simple and adventurous at the same time. scaruffi say this better "Mark Smith and his Fall have been one of the most influential groups on the evolution of "independent" pop, that is on the groups that have reinterpreted light music from the perspective of a spartan and clumsy rock, composed, played and sung in an approximate way, but without renouncing its basic quality: the melody." sorry but you don't have a point, your definition of indie is very narrow i guess

no
Its either Surfer Rosa or Perfect From Now On

I’m not denying their influence tard. the fall aren’t indie rock. don’t pretend like they are.

neither punk or post punk
