I used to be a Yea Forumstant reading p4k and watching every Antny vid in maybe 2013 Then I started appreciating music for what it was This is now a 10 to me even though I used to deride metal
Grow up you f*ggots

18 year old me >fuck pop fuck rap only metal and rock and jazz are REAL music >none of that gay indie shit either gotta JAM and have some GUITAR SOLOS and SOUL
28 year old me >emotion is one of my top 5 albums, like all music, really exploring a lot of music I missed >open to music as a lot of different things, no one concept defines how an artist should or shouldn't craft their sound >glad digitization of music can bring new genres and voices to the table
I was a dumb highschooler who wore ac/dc and zep t-shirts every day, and I'm glad I've done some growing up. its not really cringey to think about since I'm a different person now, but it is strange that I was that person. I was intentionally shut off from newness musically, and I really don't know why. I guess I thought it made me better than my peers but who knows.
It's death metal for people who don't like death metal.
Nathaniel Murphy
I've always been open to all music. The only difference between my early Yea Forums days vs now is that I no longer share good albums I discover with this board. I also tell people to delete their threads if they post good obscure albums.
Oh and I like some nu-metal now.
Jackson Gonzalez
I mean hallucinations is aight but the creativity in the drummin on Perseverance sets it apart I saw vektor when they still toured I saw obscura and russian circles on their first tour I get it

Enjoy being 16 while you can Focus more of your effort on getting laid and less on understanding Stoner and Foster Wallace You'll thank yourself later

I guess you havent gotten there yet, you will - don't get too dependent on booze to loosen up, it becomes a crutch Alright my man, what makes SoP a bad metal album, are you familiar with the album and the bands impact on the genre? What makes it a weak album for its time and genre?
Adam Carter
>Alright my man, what makes SoP a bad metal album shit riffs, shit vocals, shit production >the bands impact on the genre? you mean the impact it made with its earlier albums? sop is not impacting shit. scream bloody gore is an impactful album. >What makes it a weak album for its time and genre? it's nothing new, and anything that is new about it is shit
Logan Hall
Do you have a decent hifi setup? I could understand if you're listening on earbuds SoP is one of the best mastered death metal albums ever If you listen to it on a good system the detail and nuance is insane The issue with most metal albums of the time is how shittily mastered they were
>Do you have a decent hifi setup? yep. album sounds like shit. individual thought patterns sounds better.
Kevin Reed
Individual thought patterns is mastered flat as shit though with nearly zero separation it has some sick as fuck riffs, dont get me wrong Whats your setup? Mine is: USB Out from Strix MB > Peachtree Nova 65se > Fostex TH900 Emeralds
SoP is the most forgettable album in a catalog of otherwise very forward thinking albums. It's just a shittier version of Symbolic. The riffs are completely uninspired. Every song had that same atonal bass solo as a bridge And the fact that it ends with that baffling cover of Painkiller is just icing on the cake. "Hey let's do a completely paint-by-numbers cover of a song that came out like 5 years ago. And we're not going to make it a b-side or a live cut or something. It's going on our new full length studio album. People NEED to hear this completely unnecessary cover song"
Joseph Thompson
>Individual thought patterns is mastered flat as shit though with nearly zero separation no it's not
