Hated this shit for the longest time until I stopped listening to music on youtube with earbuds and actually got real headphones. This shit is extremely lush, surreal, and uncanny, and nobody ever explained to me that was the vibe they were going for for the longest time. I just thought it was really bright, grating indie. I now appreciate how psychedelic and trippy it is.

This is another one where I didn't like it for the longest time because I kept going into it expecting it to be a sadboi album. It's called "Loveless" after all. Once I realized that it isn't supposed to be sad so much as dreamy/cozy/dissociative, I started to like it a lot more. It's also another one of those albums that you can't listen to on shitty earbuds and an MP3 rip. Too many details. Weed helps too.

It grew on me personally, but I don't have many good defenses of it.

Pretty sure this is supposed to be absurdist anti-music, and the meme is people saying that it's serious. Through that lens, it's pretty entertaining, but it seriously overstays its welcome. Was really bored by this, but everyone told me to go listen to F#A# Infinity, and that I'd like that more. I didn't believe them, but when I finally did, it's like a dam broke and I became obsessed with post-rock. Now this album blows my mind.

I wish I could like this more. I know that it's important historically, and something about breakthroughs in production, but it just sounds so trite.

Y'know, it's pretty neat. I'm a sucker for twinkles, odd time signatures, and trumpets. That being said, Cap'n Jazz is better.

Another case of "I didn't like it until I realized I was wrong about the aesthetic they were trying present." I always just listened to it like a rock album, and found it really boring, but lately I've really come to appreciate how spooky and unsettling it is. Everything is so sparse and bleak, the song structure is so dramatic and narrative driven, and the time signatures in a lot of the songs are so uneven and stilted that they really add to the twilight-zone spoken word spooky uncomfortable vibe.

Took me multiple listens to realize I even liked it. I thought some tracks were enjoyable at first but on repeat listens I came to love every track.
It's a bit like a a truly perfect sphere. It's not overly complex, and the instrumentals are not revolutionary, but the tracks compose a flawless album. There's a sort of almost spiritual aspect to that which I don't get from many other albums.
