It’s hard to get good recs or know where to start with most EDM outside of singles desu

are any of these techno?

that's gross, dude
delete urself

I don't want to get the AIDS

Exactly 3 of these are techno.

that's because RYM is rockist and clueless about electronic music
move to discogs and start digging through labels

Most of them are ambient techno, closest actual techno record is Biokinetics

only a handful of true heads too.
most people don't go much further than BCD, Jungle Spliff, Frankie, and any mix with "The Bells" baka

>edm
typical rockist

Gib recs instead
I need to be spoon fed or I won’t do shit
Doesn’t mean I don’t want to hear different things but randomly going through catalogs of music by label is about the least appealing thing I can think of
What would you prefer me to call it?
Nobody ever agrees on what the “proper” term is when it comes to electronic music, and as such catering to such trivialities seems secondary to the actual discussion

ask ur discord friends

it's just dance music
"EDM" is a retarded yank term

I don’t use discord and avoid interaction with most because
>Aspergers
Makes communicating with most people painful & difficult
I’m a yank so
It’s just the vernacular

We are referring to the same thing either way, it’s just shades of gray. Or is it Grey.

no
from a thread up on house music atm
>It's just dance music. You wouldn't say Disco is electronic, would you? EDM is a genre and generalised term used by Americans in the late 2000s and early 2010s to describe shitty brostep, big room and other garbage electronic musicians like Skrillex, Diplo, Deadmau5 and etc.

Detroit Techno is not EDM. Chicago House is not EDM. Acid House is not EDM. Jungle is not EDM. Nu-Disco is not EDM. UK Garage is not EDM.

I would consider all of these EDM
Obviously not all of them use electronics to the same degree and major parts of their sound can be non synthetic but ultimately the term still fits

Arbitrary division making otherwise

Gesaffelstein aleph
Skrillex bangarang

then you are clueless, like 90 percent of this board, congrats

post good acid

Familiar with both of those two but thank you
Pursuit has been my jam for years so it’s a good suggestion at any rate

not the guy youre replying to but edm doesnt mean "dance music thats electronic" it specifically refers to big room sounds the likes of steve aoki and david guetta play
ive only seen people use edm the way you use it on Yea Forums and arguably Yea Forums isnt in to dance too much so its not too surprising

>probably listens to metal

Lmfao dude get off the music board

worse
i listen to post-rock
i do like techno tho

Damn u sure got me there :^)

Because the recording format of techno is not albums.

Most people listen to singles or mixes, but thats not even the intended medium. It is produced for small, dark clubs, not for headphone listening.

idk, warps 'electronic listening music' is quite a widespread concept now. of course not all idm is techno, but there's quite an overlap. i also feel like ambient techno and dub techno is great home listening music. it often has evolving soundscapes, deep textures and interesting rhythms. i think it's rather inattentive to write it off as club music

Agreed. You can have songs in 130-150 bpm range with a more subtle approach, works well for me while being alone, coding, reading. Since it's not so in your face. However the same song would be underwhelming in the club, even if perfectly danceable.

because electronica is throwaway music and rarely worth buying a physical copy of

Does Yello count?
> have a few of theirs

Could you display the album names ?
Also recs plz!

Yes, they are super underrated here on Yea Forums

Black Dog

ambient and dub techno is also techno?

are these your favorite electronic albums in general? Because...

Traumprinz might be the most overrated producer in house/techno right now. His shit's boring and basic as fuck
his only good release is U'll Be King of the Stars

is techno really about albums? arn't they more EP and compilation oriented

In the vein of BoC, felt this was a solid album.

Pretty positive vibe bleeps and bloops, he does video game music too.

TFSoL release a new album named after a song they released in 1996 that "takes the core of the original and rebuilds it." The albums like a soundscape and pretty tightly put together in my opinion.

Don't know much about this band, but it came up on RED's top 10 daily and that's where I usually grab albums that look interesting to me. Says they are electronic chamber pop.

mana1.bandcamp.com/album/seven-steps-behind

Another random one from RED. I only liked half the album but really liked what I heard, don't know if that YouTube link will work for everyone.

youtube.com/watch?v=7eB-x701P5Y

This was actually the last album I found through what.cd before it was closed. More traditional old school house, Detroit scene.

There is a lot of electronic music appearing in the Top 10 daily on RED which is where I mainly go to find new releases, most of it is more on the ambient side, and I don't think I'm well-versed enough to say this is pushing the boundaries or creating something new but these are a few I liked.

Obviously, yeah.

Working on getting everything split by genre to make more sense.

I disagree for Traumprinz, but thx for the rec listenning to U'll Be King of the Stars right now.

e.g. the single best subgenre outside of big beat

because I don't fucking want to, mate.
