Was the 60's the best decade ever for music?

Why was it that around 1966-1968, all of these random beatnik bands and pop rock/surf acts suddenly started making incredibly influential classically influenced pop music that has been mimicked for decades, but never able to be replicated? Was it all the LSD?

Fellini and Rota was the ultimate duo. Even over Spielberg/Williams and Hitchcock/Hermann. La Dolce Vita is another great 60's OST

The best heavy 60s album. Drums sound like elephants stomping through your place on a good system.

I guess heavy metal really did start in 1968, huh?

Influenced for sure, but Black Sabbath is still the grandfather of metal.

Man, I'm gonna be honest. I love Black Sabbath, but the more I learn about late 60s music, the less I respect them. They took their name from a Coven song, and Ozzy Osbourne is named after Coven's bassist Oz Osbourne. They took a lot of their sound from Iron Butterfly, who coined the term "heavy" to describe their music in 1968, two years before Sabbath's debut.

unironically their best album

A realistic, horrific dive into the terrors of drug abuse in 1970. HEAVY AS FUCK.

THIS

This album is terrifying. This is literally the most accessible song.

I love pet sounds. my favorite album ever. I just finished the first track off this album. holy shit lads what a song

A true essential for any record collector.
Why do you have to own it? Because everybody else owns it.
Why does everybody else own it? Who know?
How did this record become so incredibly well known? By being well-known.

The bagpipes really sell it, this is some weird shit.

lol, best of albums

Dude, I was expecting the full album to be normal with that being the weird stand-out track that was way ahead of its time but it's the opposite. The album is weird and scary as fuck, and that's the closest thing to a normal song.

Was 1967 the greatest year in music history?

That's why I wanted to stress realistic. Sabbath brought the horrors of drug excess to the mainstream.

nice

At least 70-80% of the best 60s albums are jazz

I agree on both
