Electronic music like Kraftwerk was the inspiration for many forms of electronic dance music (and hip hop), but house and techno were both created in the United States, one in Chicago, the other in Detroit. It's up to you to decide whether or not German "tekno" is a subgenre or a different genre that spun off of the original Detroit sound, but the fact remains.
