Eels. Would have been Morrissey if I'd found him as a teenager but I was in my early 20s when I found The Smiths

No album ever did that to me
How is that even supposed to happen? You listen to it and go "wow im very happy. My life is different now"?

godspeed brother

This changed your life? From straight to gay?

He just means am album that meant an awful lot to you and either reaffirmed something great for you or provided a revelation of some kind for you. If you never felt that powerfully about any music you're on the wrong board

This. You faggots need to stop being so melodramatic.

I assume you also fuck with full-band 'Wesley Willis Fiasco'?

Oh and lemme guess if I never cried to a song I should also go away right?
I don't have one. Some albums that I like a lot are loveless(not original I know), leaves turn inside you, jazzmatazz vol 2, and a bunch of albums from my country

there's not even a single album you heard in some formative part of your life that opened you up to music discovery after only being exposed to the radio and your parents' music?

Nice

Very nice. Cocteau Twins always brighten my day.

likely saved it.

tms

A complete recording of Sibelius' Tone Poems and Symphonies. Holy fuck, that was one hell of an awakening to music.

I would never have been so appreciative of Music and been motivated to being a music producer if it wasn't for this album. This album ended up being the catalyst to helping me break out of this nu-metal/pop-punk era I was stuck in. This album helped me realize there was more music to discover than what I've already known. This album encouraged me to refine my taste to becoming more sophisticated. I traveled around the entire world for different concerts because of this album.

not even exaggerating.

It depends on how it changes it.

Changes your perspective or approach to music.

Changes some part of your philosophy.

Music can change your approach to so many things, big or small. It doesn't have to change your entire life as a whole.

But any change will affect your life. That's all.

Also, this is the album that got me into music. Albums, really listening and undressing the music, the identity it shares.

Freshman year of high school, my friends are super into metal and I know that, I listen to a bit of thrash myself (mostly Metallica, which is still one of my favorite bands) but hadn't really gone past. My friend Joe shows me Misanthrope and at first I do the stereotypical "EUGGH SCREAMO DEATH METAL EWW". However, I noticed that in the coming days the song was in my head. So I look it up, listen to it, and suddenly realize, "holy shit, this is a phenomenal song." I tell Joe that it fucking clicked so he tells me to listen to this album, so I did. It was, like the song I had listened to but minutes prior, phenomenal. Not only did it make me realize that I had been ignoring death metal this entire time, it made me realize that I had been ignoring a lot of other perfectly good genres. Prior to this, I had really only listened to the music that my parents played - my mom really liked Coldplay, I listened to their albums (still have a soft spot for some of them), my dad really liked Daft Punk, I listened to their albums, but I hadn't really ventured out into my own musical adventures. So thats exactly what I did - I asked my friends for some recommendations, and thats how my metal phase started, which lasted through freshman year. Then I realized that I had completely turned my back on alternative, so I started listening to Radiohead and REM. Then I realized that I had completely turned by back on rap, and that it was actually music (and not only that, it was really good) and started listening to Kendrick and Nas and MF Doom and hell even some newer rappers like Travis and Denzel Curry. And from there, I just kept growing and growing my spotify playlist and collection of albums that I've listened to and knowledge of music and music history. In other words, if I hadn't taken the time to listen to Symbolic, I really dont think I would love music as much as I do today. Thanks, Chuck, for making such a legendary album. You will be missed, dearly.

THE one album that I listened to after my first big major breakup with the one I called the love of my life. Heavy Metal with honestly horribly simple lyrics, but that shit got me thru the day.

When I first heard Thunderstruck, my destiny was sealed. I have traveled the pathways of heavy metal ever since.

unironically OKC, i don't listen to it anymore but it has made me feel the most out of any album. also was the one that got me out of dumb powerchord shit and into true(tm) patrician(tm) music(tm)

Anco's STGSTV inspired a lot of spiritual experiences and many albums have inspired me musically but this one really helped me get through a breakup and i'll never forget it for that.

good picks

Every album I've ever heard has changed my life for I am never really the same I was before, after listening to an album. As a matter of fact I'm not even the same I was when I started writing this message. This post has changed my life!
